The Senior Mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting residential mortgage loan applications, ensuring compliance with company policies, lending standards, and regulatory requirements. Daily tasks include reviewing credit reports, appraisals, income documents, and other supporting materials to assess borrower eligibility. The role requires making sound decisions on loan approvals while minimizing risk and collaborating closely with loan originators and processors to address and resolve any underwriting issues.QualificationsExtensive experience in Mortgage Underwriting and a strong foundation in Underwriting guidelinesSolid understanding of the Mortgage Industry, including regulations, policies, and proceduresProficiency in reviewing and analyzing documents related to Mortgages and financial statementsStrong Analytical Skills and attention to detail for assessing risk and making accurate decisionsFHA DE (Direct Endorsement), SAR (Staff Appraisal Reviewer), or LAPP (Loan Analysis Processing Program) certifications preferredExceptional communication and organizational skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with strong problem-solving capabilitiesAssociates in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred but not requiredSkillsStrong negotiation skills combined with excellent financial acumen for assessing loan terms and borrower profiles.Proficiency in financial software tools used for data collection, analysis, and reporting within the mortgage industry.Expertise in underwriting principles, credit analysis, risk management, and quantitative research methodologies.Solid understanding of banking operations, financial concepts such as cash flow analysis, forecasting, and technical accounting standards.Ability to perform comprehensive financial analysis including tax review, portfolio management insights, and quantitative analysis techniques.Knowledge of mortgage servicing practices along with experience in loan processing and origination workflows.Exceptional math skills necessary for complex calculations related to financial modeling and risk assessment.
