Required In-Person Engagement) Who We Are:The New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NMCADV) exists to lead a coordinated, effective, and inclusive statewide response to intimate partner and domestic violence (IPV/DV). Our work is grounded in survivor safety, equity, and accountability and is carried forward through training, technical assistance, coordinated community response, and systems change. We envision a New Mexico where all survivors have access to services that are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and aligned across systems. Position Summary:The Training Specialist serves as a subject-matter leader in advocacy essentials, in addition to being responsible for developing and delivering training within a designated focus area. This role ensures that training content reflects NMCADV’s values, aligns with statewide standards, and supports providers and systems partners in delivering high-quality, survivor centered services. Training Specialists do more than deliver curriculum they shape practice. This role bridges knowledge and application, ensuring that what is taught is relevant, actionable, and grounded in the realities of the field. Each Training Specialist holds a defined focus area and is responsible for maintaining expertise, identifying emerging issues, and ensuring that NMCADV’s training remains current, responsive, and impactful.Focus Areas:Training Specialists are assigned one or more of the following focus areas dependent on their experience and expertise: • Shelter and Crisis Advocacy • Civil Legal Advocacy • Systems Based Advocacy • Children’s Services and Advocacy • Abuse Intervention (including DVOTI/BIP alignment) • Immigration • Culturally Specific Programming • Housing • Other Topics as Developed Each focus area reflects a critical component of the IPV/DV response system and requires both subject matter expertise and the ability to translate complex concepts into practical application.  Curriculum Development and Training Delivery :Training Specialists are responsible for developing and delivering curriculum within their focus area, as well as the basic advocacy essentials. This includes creating training materials, facilitating sessions, and adapting content to meet the needs of diverse audiences. Training is designed to be interactive, reflective, and grounded in real-world application. Specialists ensure that participants are not only receiving information but are supported in integrating that knowledge into their work. This role requires the ability to engage a wide range of participants, including advocates, system professionals, and community partners. Integration of Statewide Standards: A central responsibility of the Training Specialist is ensuring that all training aligns with NMCADV’s statewide standards (in development). This includes: • Embedding standards into curriculum and training delivery • Supporting participants in understanding how standards apply to their work• Reinforcing expectations around trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive practices Training Specialists also play a key role in identifying where gaps exist between standards and practice and communicating those insights to leadership. Connection to Field Practice Training Specialists remain closely connected to the field, ensuring that their work reflects current realities and challenges faced by providers and systems. This includes engaging with programs, participating in technical assistance efforts, and incorporating feedback into training design. Specialists ensure that training remains relevant, practical, and responsive. This role requires both expertise and humility recognizing that learning flows in both directions between the Coalition and the field. Collaboration Across the OrganizationTraining Specialists work closely with: • CEO • Deputy Director of Programs • Deputy Director of CCR • Director of Training • Director of Technical Assistance & Capacity • CCR staff and organizers This collaboration ensures that training, technical assistance, and systems work are aligned and reinforcing. Specialists contribute to cross-functional efforts, including special projects, curriculum development across focus areas, and organizational initiatives. Collaborative & Mission-Centric Culture At NMCADV, Training Specialists are part of a broader effort to strengthen the field. This role requires collaboration, flexibility, and a willingness to engage beyond a single focus area when needed. Specialists contribute to a culture of shared accountability, recognizing that their work supports not only individual learning, but the overall effectiveness of the IPV/DV response across New Mexico. Work Structure and Expectations: NMCADV operates as a hybrid organization. Training Specialists are expected to participate in in-person engagement frequently and to travel regularly throughout the state to deliver training and support programs. Staff residing in Bernalillo County are required to work in the office one (1) day per week. Attendance at a minimum of two member meetings annually is required. Attendance at in person staff meetings is required.  Location Requirement This position requires residency in the state of New Mexico. The work of NMCADV is deeply rooted in community engagement, statewide travel, and relationship-building with local partners, systems, and member programs. As such, candidates must reside in New Mexico or be willing to relocate within a reasonable timeframe upon hire. While the standard workweek is 32 hours, this role requires flexibility to accommodate training schedules and travel. Qualifications and Experience This role requires experience in IPV/DV services or a related field, with demonstrated knowledge in at least one designated focus area. Experience in training, facilitation, or education is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate brings the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, engage participants effectively, and support practical application of knowledge. A strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices is essential. Lived experience is highly valued and recognized as critical expertise. Confidentiality and Organizational Integrity All training materials, curriculum, and intellectual property developed in this role are the sole property of NMCADV. Training Specialists are responsible for maintaining the integrity and appropriate use of these materials. Travel, and Benefits NMCADV operates as a hybrid in person and virtual organization, with staff working remotely when not engaged in in-person activities. Travel is a regular and essential component of this role and is fully supported by the organization. Both in and out-of-state travel will be required as needed. Travel and per diem will be covered by NMCADV per current travel and diem rates.
