Production Planner

JOB SUMMARY: The Production Planner is responsible for managing the scheduling and timeliness of the production process to ensure the company meets customer deadlines. The Production Planner’s other duties include managing material and equipment availability, scheduling production, and monitoring the production process to identify and help resolve any issues or challenges. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Plans, schedules, and coordinates production between multiple departments. Arranges schedules for each work center to meet expected deadlines. Coordinates closely with supervisors to ensure sufficient coverage for essential functions within the operational framework. Evaluates and coordinates with material suppliers to ensure incoming material is received on time to meet schedules. Coordinates with Engineering and Quality Departments to understand the process requirements of each project to ensure proper execution of the plans. Delivers timely updates on production status internally and communicates progress to customers as necessary. Develops milestone schedules for projects when required, maintains open communication and clear expectation of project progress. Addresses production disruptions, productivity problems, and adjusts schedules as required. Formulates reports to uncover production concerns and identify bottlenecks. Identifies methods to enhance productivity and minimize costs. Encourages adherence to safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Requirements: REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent required. 2+ years’ experience in a production planning role preferred. 3 – 5 years’ experience in related disciplines including production supervisor, production planning, manufacturing or assembly work required. Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines. Must have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Thorough understanding of or ability to quickly learn product operations and machinery. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports. Ability to read and interpret milestone schedules and other documents. Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing), listen, assess, and problem solve. Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen and background check.
