Writing Services Coordinator
Job Summary: This position exists to provide oversight and the delivery of on-campus writing services at LBC.Personal Qualities:Self-awareness of personal strengths and limitationsThe desire to grow, develop, and mature, both spiritually and professionally.The ability to create and maintain a Christian professional atmosphere in all internal and external relationships.A spirit of cooperation and willingness to serve as a team.A professional appearance.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Education and Experience:A minimum of a master's degree in English, rhetoric & composition, or a related field is requiredA minimum of 2 years of tutoring/editing experience is requiredExperience overseeing a college Writing Center is preferredDuties/Responsibilities:Serve as the Institutional Administrator for AccuplacerCoordinate writing placement tests for incoming on-campus studentsMaintain testing policies and proceduresCommunicate test scores to A&S Department for course placementCoordinate on-campus Writing ServicesEvaluate Writing Services and their effectiveness in collaboration with the Ally Center DirectorEstablish and influence a culture of writing that promotes scholarship for on-campus studentsDevelop and maintain writing resources and training on style guidesPartner with professors who require writing visits for studentsConsult the Arts and Sciences department and library staff regarding information literacy and writing skills development across the campusMarket Writing Services via in-class presentations and social mediaProvide individual writing support for students as needed.Track student visits and data and report to the Ally Center DirectorSupervise student workers within Writing ServicesOversee the recruiting and hiring of new student workersDevelop an ongoing writing mentor training programTrain and supervise writing mentors in keeping confidential recordsMeet with students who have violated the Academic Integrity Policy for plagiarismOversee LBC100 and FAS100 courses (First semester orientation for on-campus and online students)Recruit and orient instructorsRevise syllabi and submit to the provost's officeWork with the provost's office to confirm work agreements and instructor remunerationRevise course contentIntegrate writing and research into the orientation process of all LBC students.Stay current with Writing Center trends and scholarshipProvide writing support for online students during the summer termServe on the AI TaskforceAssist in other duties when called upon and as needed for the good and welfare of the total college ministryRequired Skills/Abilities:Ability to manage and lead a team of student workers.Competent in interpersonal/relational skills.Competent communicator with strong verbal skills.Competent to model/teach academic strategies and skills.Excellent written communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
