Senior Applications Scientist

Reporting to the Applications & Market Development Manager, as our Senior Applications Scientist, your primary responsibilities will include the development of new atom probe tomography applications and instrumentation capabilities to support customers and to support sales. In this role, you will work closely with the CAMECA Madison Sales and Product Support teams as well as our customers. Specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:Key Responsibilities:Support junior level application engineers in their missions by helping them to solve technical problems and ensure knowledge transfer within the Applications team.Participate in the verification of demonstration reports and/or analytical test reports produced by applications team.Carry out in-house training courses on products and their applications to enable applications engineers and colleagues from other departments to increase their skills.Actively participate in relevant customer events, such as user meetings and webinars, to highlight key applications, interact with customers, understand their needs and provide solutions.Regularly suggest improvements and actions relevant to the Applications team's activitySupport atom probe tomography (APT) sales demo support for customers and prospects.Train customers in best practices for atom probe operation and data analysis.Provide scientific expertise for ongoing and future APT-related activities within CAMECA.Test cutting-edge hardware and software to demonstrate benefits for expanded markets.Work closely with the product management and engineering teams to contribute to new product development, proof of concepts, and prototypes.Support marketing efforts by generating literature reviews, applications notes, seminars, webinars, etc.Assist with management, maintenance and quality control of all laboratory instrumentation.Document the results of scientific research through reports, presentations at meetings, and through publication in proceedings and refereed journal articles.Interface with university, government and industrial customers and suppliers in the definition and development of research projects.Develop new applications related to current technology.Travel estimated ~25% to 30%Education & Experience:Graduate level degree in a materials science/physics-related field2+ years of professional experience (post PhD) with microscopy instrumentsExperience with dual beam FIB and APT technologies requiredSemiconductor experience highly desirableWorking knowledge of analytical imaging instrumentation including APT and electron microscopyStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsAbout Us:CAMECA is a world leader in the design and manufacture of scientific instruments for elemental and isotopic microanalysis.
