Job Description: Senior Estimator – High-Rise Multifamily ConstructionLocation: Chicago, IllinoisSalary: Up to $180,000 (DOE)Job Description:We are working with a well-established General Contractor in the Chicago area who is actively seeking a Senior Estimator to join and help lead their growing preconstruction team. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced estimator to take on a leadership role supporting complex multifamily and commercial projects from concept through GMP.The RoleReporting to the Director of Preconstruction, the Senior Estimator will serve as the lead estimator on major projects while supporting and mentoring a team of preconstruction managers, estimators, and junior staff. This role is responsible for driving estimating strategy, improving processes, and ensuring accuracy and consistency across all estimates.ResponsibilitiesLead estimating efforts on large, complex multifamily and commercial projectsPrepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP-level estimatesDevelop estimating strategies, scopes, assumptions, and execution plansLead quantity takeoffs, subcontractor bidding, bid leveling, and scope reconciliationOwn estimate accuracy, completeness, and risk identificationLead value engineering and cost analysis efforts throughout design developmentPresent estimates, cost narratives, and variance analysis to leadership and ownership groupsSupport and oversee estimating workflows across the preconstruction teamMaintain and improve historical cost data, benchmarks, and estimating standardsIdentify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and consistencyProvide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to junior team membersWhat They're Looking For7–10+ years of estimating experience in multifamily or commercial constructionExperience leading estimates from concept through GMP deliveryStrong understanding of subcontractor pricing, trade scopes, and market conditionsProven ability to mentor or support estimating team membersStrong communication and presentation skills with leadership exposureHighly organized with strong attention to detail and documentation practicesProficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software (Procore, Zebel, or similar preferred)Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferredWhy Join?Leadership role within a growing and collaborative preconstruction teamStrong pipeline of multifamily and commercial projectsOpportunity to influence estimating standards and best practicesDirect exposure to operations, development, and executive leadershipClear career growth and advancement opportunitiesCulture focused on accountability, mentorship, and continuous improvementBenefits:401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insurance
