Talascend is currently seeking a Packaging Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Burton, Michigan.OverviewThe main function of a packaging engineer is to design and release packaging material specifications. A typical packaging engineer is responsible for improving packaging design and material specifications through research and testing.ResponsibilitiesPerform projects to reduce packaging material, processing, distribution, and damage costsResolve complex product and packaging issuesDevelop and apply graphic design elements and product identification standards for packaging materialsCoordinate packaging requirements with plants, other departments, sources, and customersStay current on new technology and new developmentsApply high quality network/synchronous organization and lean strategies to achieve process improvement and promote teamworkQualificationsBachelor's degree in packaging or other related technical area5-7 years of experience requiredExpert knowledge of testing, design, packaging processesKnowledge in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPointKnowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication toolsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work well with a teamAbility to partner with senior management to analyze and solve issuesAbility to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to create blueprints and technical drawingsWe thank all applicants for their interest.
