Trimble Layout Technician

Job Description Tradeco Construction is currently seeking multiple experienced Trimble Layout Technicians for a project in Conover, North Carolina. The successful candidates will be proficient in operating Trimble robotic total stations and layout tools (e.g., Trimble RTS, RPT, or SX series) and can accurately transfer BIM/CAD design coordinates to the field for construction layout. This role supports commercial and industrial projects across multiple trades.Responsibilities include:· Operate Trimble robotic total stations and layout tools to establish control points, set layout points, and verify as-built conditions· Interpret construction drawings, BIM models, and Trimble Field Link or FieldPoints project files· Perform layout for MEP components including hangers, supports, sleeves, penetrations, embeds, anchors, and equipment pads· Coordinate with project teams and trade partners to maintain layout accuracy and resolve conflicts· Maintain and calibrate Trimble instruments and related equipment· Document layout work, prepare field reports, and communicate deviations or RFIs· Train field personnel on layout tools and best practices· Follow site safety protocols and OSHA requirements· Assist with general field work as needed​​Qualifications:· Minimum 2 years of experience operating Trimble robotic total stations or layout tools· Proficiency with Trimble Field Link, FieldPoints, or similar software· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and BIM/CAD models· Understanding of layout principles including control networks and coordinate systems· Valid driver's license with a clean record and reliable transportation· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification, or willingness to obtain· Strong written and verbal communication skills· Basic computer skills, including use of tablets or iPads· Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work within a team· Commitment to working safely with proper PPE Physical Requirements · Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods· Ability to lift 50+ lbs independently· Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and elevated surfaces· Ability to work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and rain· Possession of basic tools required for the role Preferred Qualifications · Commercial or industrial plumbing experience· Experience with Trimble SX series or 3D scanning workflows· Familiarity with Navisworks, Revit, or AutoCAD· BIM/VDC coordination or modeling experience· Multi-trade MEP layout experienceCompany DescriptionTradeco Construction is a medium-sized construction staffing company that specializes in skilled trades, primarily the MEP trades.
