Responsibilities: As the café manager, you will be reporting directly to the co-owner, and responsible for the successful operations of the café, including hiring, training, managing and overseeing café staff to ensure customers receive the highest level of service possible, and that all Caffe Umbria policies and procedures are followed. Duties include: Managing and motivating the café team of 10-15. Coaching, training, educating, and inspiring the team to work with effectiveness and efficiency. Onboarding, training and supervising team members. Providing ongoing performance management to team members. Scheduling staff and handling call outs/time off to ensure the cafe has appropriate levels of coverage. Monitoring and analyzing café budget to meet objectives. Managing inventory, ordering and relationships with vendors. Menu planning and pricing. Maintaining and managing workflows, standard operating procedures, and company policies. Advertising and marketing the café to attract new customers. Ensuring the café complies with local health and safety codes and employment law. Having fun, drinking great coffee, and making wonderful connections along the way. Qualifications: At Café Umbria we look for managers who possess strong leadership skills, charisma, an intuition for operations, a strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Additional qualifications include: 2+ years of experience as a barista in the specialty coffee industry with knowledge of coffee and coffee equipment. 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role within the coffee, food/beverage and/or hospitality industry. Must be able to work days, evening and weekends as necessary Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs on a repetitive basis. Must be able to successfully pass background check. The ideal candidate will also have an understanding of Italian café culture, Specialty coffee including alternative brew methods, SCA Standards, experience with Clover or similar POS system, and reliable transportation.
