This role helps ensure the building, grounds, equipment, and resident areas remain in excellent condition while providing a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with routine maintenance and repair of the building, apartments, common areas, and groundsPerform basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and HVAC-related tasks as neededConduct daily inspections of the property to identify maintenance or safety concernsRespond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staffMaintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, storage rooms, and workspacesSupport preventive maintenance schedules for equipment and building systemsAssist with seasonal maintenance such as snow removal, salting walkways, landscaping, and outdoor upkeepEnsure compliance with safety regulations, fire codes, and company policiesHelp coordinate vendor visits and outside contractor work when necessaryMaintain accurate maintenance logs and work order documentationParticipate in emergency response procedures and on-call maintenance support if requiredQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious maintenance, facilities, or handyman experience preferredBasic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and carpentryAbility to safely operate maintenance tools and equipmentStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility to lift, push, and pull up to 50 poundsReliable, organized, and able to work independentlyStrong communication and customer service skillsExperience in senior living, healthcare, or residential communities is a plusScheduleFull-time / Part-time based on community needsSome weekends, holidays, and on-call availability may be requiredBenefits (if applicable)Competitive payHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off401(k) optionsEmployee referral programsCareer growth opportunitiesEqual Opportunity EmployerThe Sentinel of Amsterdam is committed to creating an inclusive workplace and providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and applicants.
