Software Engineer

Toyota Automated Logistics is seeking experienced Software Engineers to work in their Louisville, KY location or new Noblesville, IN Headquarters.Job OverviewThe Software Engineer will work together with Software Team Lead to coordinate and oversee design and development of future engineered products (new versions of Exacta, various automation and device integration with Exacta, Dynamics AX and other ERP system integration into Exacta, new functionality within Exacta – vision systems, voice-controlled Exacta, embedded software, etc.) Work together with Software Team Lead to ensure that the best architecture is implemented for the Exacta product. Will need to engage and solve the Critical issues and tasks that the software development group is challenged with. Be prepared to be vocal and influential with the direction that the project team pursues for the future our software suite. Mentor new developers and create an atmosphere that encourages growth and respect.Job FunctionsAssist Software Team Lead to make sure all developers in the Programming Department are successful, and can produce fast, error-free code.Receives detailed functional specification, software design documents and flow diagrams to illustrate the sequence of steps that the programs must follow and to describe input, output, and logical operations involved.Analyzes workflow logic of design documents, and resolves problems raised by theoretical and practical approach to the project design.Assist Software Architects with documentation for new Exacta modulesCommunicates closely with other project team members or the end user as necessary to resolve questions of the system functionality, data input, output requirements, and various internal checks and controls.Develop, debug, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.Package and support deployment of releases.Maintain MS Certification as a Professional Developer. Encourage developers to become MCTSs and MCSDs.Maintain Bastian Software Coding Standards Document.Initiate and lead code review meetings strictly adhering to the Bastian Software coding standardsEncourage and facilitate the use of unit testing algorithms and standardsCompletes successfully unit level testing prior to passing the programs on to QAActive participate during all PDSC meetings and activities.Ability to Execute R&D ProjectsAssist Team Lead on providing estimates to sales departmentActively participate including presentations in monthly developer meetingsContinuing education including but not limited to security trainingAbility to design and develop larger or lesser defined projects from start to finishAbility to perform all essential functions above with minimal supervision and less reworkTravel Requirements20% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics)Preferred Skills And Required QualificationsMust be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.Bachelors degree in Computer Science; Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science (CECS) is preferred6+ years of experience working in a professional setting as a Developer (C# preferred) 6+ years of work experience with C#, .NET framework Ability to support or rewrite legacy Microsoft technologies such as ASP.NET, REST, and MVC v1 thru 4Experience in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Ajax, JSON, XML, XHTML, security & performance issues with browsersProficiency with C++, COM, Mocking Frameworks and Debugging toolsKnowledge of source control with TFS/Git including setting up solutions, publishing, CI, branching/mergingExperience with database development including relational database design and ORM technologiesKnowledge and application of object-oriented design principlesA deep understanding of development patterns and prior experience with implementationDeep understanding of coding techniques which contribute to the reliability, maintainability, readability, simplicity, performance, and testability of softwareA good understanding of IT environments including networking, server technologies, databases, security and performanceExperience and proficiency in the day-to-day practicalities of Software Development methodologies such as Scrum, Waterfall and KanbanSoftware development qualifications such as Microsoft Certified Professional DeveloperEmployees must follow all information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report any suspected security incidents to support our information security controls.About Toyota Automated LogisticsToyota Automated Logistics is your global partner for integrated warehouse automation.
