Visa sponsorship is not available for this role * Local hybrid candidates preferred; remote candidates will be considered.Job SummaryThe Senior Corporate Counsel will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer and work closely with the Legal Department and key business stakeholders to provide high-quality legal advice and effective risk strategies, primarily in the areas of labor and employment law as well as various intellectual property matters. This individual will be expected to independently manage multiple priorities, skillfully advise internal business colleagues, and efficiently direct and manage outside counsel and consultants. Significant experience in advising clients about risks and compliance associated with federal and state employment laws is required – including but not limited to compensation plans, pay practices/processes, fair employment and human rights practices, nondiscrimination and anti-harassment, affirmative action, talent management and restructuring, employee relations compliance requirements, human resource policy administration, disability law and accommodations, FMLA, restrictive covenants, employment litigation support, and investigation protocols. Experience in intellectual property matters is a plus.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesEfficiently guide and educate internal clients on all manner of employment and labor law topics; serve as the employment and labor law subject matter expert in support of business unit initiativesProvide expert end-to-end legal advice on a wide range of labor and employment law issues, including but not limited to employment contracts, terminations, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour compliance, and workplace policiesIndependently manage portions of the company’s employment and labor legal matters, including litigation and agency charge matters, in a manner that reflects internal priorities and protects company interestsProvide effective advocacy through negotiation, legal writing, oral communication and counselingLead or significantly contribute to process-improvement related to the Company’s employment and labor relations practices and Legal Department initiativesNegotiate settlements and disputes; independently and effectively manage and oversee outside counsel, as needed, and represent the Company at mediations and trials for employment mattersDevelop and provide training to corporate colleagues on employment issuesMonitor, review, and resolve day-to-day legal and employment related issues as they are assignedExercise excellent business judgment and will provide practical, sound advice in an evolving business landscapeDraft, revise, and update employment documentation and agreements.Support the Company’s cross-functional goals and projects for the Legal department.Conduct internal investigationsAdvise on intellectual property law, and ability to manage counsel related to patent applications and prosecutions, trademark filings, etc.Other duties as assignedSupervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.Travel RequirementsTravel Requirements: Less than 25%EducationMinimum Graduate Degree: JD from an accredited law schoolMinimum Other Licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. stateExperience6 years Significant employment and labor law experience either in-house or at a law firm, with a dedicated practice focus on employment and labor law.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesUnderstanding of operational processes and ability to identify and determine the impact of regulatory or new business initiatives on the Company’s employment practices or IP strategiesExecutive-level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively lead discussions and meetings.Lead by influence without direct authorityEffective problem solving and analytical skills.Superior time-management and execution skills – ability to define and articulate a strong vision, create an actionable roadmap and drive to execute within the OKR framework.Effective storytelling and presentation skills.
