Senior 5G NR Layer 1 Software EngineerLocation: San Jose, CAWe are seeking a highly motivated Senior 5G NR Layer 1 Software Engineer to develop, optimize, and validate wireless modem software for next-generation 5G products. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in embedded software development, 3GPP Layer 1 (PHY) technologies, and wireless communication systems.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience; OR Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience; OR PhD with relevant industry experience.Strong programming skills in C/C++ within embedded and real-time software environments.Hands-on experience with 5G NR and LTE Layer 1 (PHY) software development.Solid understanding of physical channel processing, including PDCCH, PDSCH, PBCH, and related PHY procedures.Experience with embedded systems, hardware abstraction layers (HAL), and low-level software development.Proven experience in feature development, debugging, validation, performance analysis, and optimization.Preferred QualificationsWorking knowledge of higher-layer wireless protocols, including MAC, RLC, PDCP, and RRC.Experience with wireless test equipment, modem bring-up, and commercial modem software platforms.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional engineering teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and optimize 5G NR Layer 1 software features for wireless modem products.Implement and enhance PHY-layer algorithms and procedures to improve performance and reliability.Debug and resolve complex software and system-level issues in embedded environments.Collaborate with system architects, protocol engineers, and validation teams to deliver high-quality modem solutions.Analyze performance metrics and drive continuous improvements in modem efficiency and throughput.
