A high-performing dealership in Lake Charles, Louisiana is seeking a dynamic and experienced Used Car Manager to lead its pre-owned and Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) operations. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends inventory management, sales team development, and strategic forecasting.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in F&I, sales desk operations, and used vehicle acquisition, and is passionate about driving profitability, optimizing turn, and developing high-performing sales teams in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:Set and manage department goals, sales targets, and forecasting
Provide hands-on support and training to sales staff to enhance closing ratios and customer engagement
Lead sales desk operations and support deal structuring for used vehicle transactions
Build, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team aligned with company values
Appraise, acquire, and manage all used and CPO vehicle inventory
Monitor local market trends, customer preferences, and competitive data to maintain optimal stock mix
Oversee reconditioning, merchandising, and lot readiness for retail display
Ensure proper pricing, online presence, and photo accuracy across all digital platforms
Monitor and drive key performance indicators including gross profit, inventory turn, and PVR
Partner with F&I and fixed ops departments to ensure seamless processes and revenue optimization
Ensure marketing and merchandising materials (stickers, signage, banners, etc.) are accurate and professionally displayed
Promote open communication and alignment with other dealership departments
Maintain alignment with dealership policies, ethics, and operational standards
Uphold a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement
Ensure accurate use of digital systems and tools, including used car pricing and merchandising software (e.g., UCPR)
What You Bring:Sales desk and F&I experience required
Proven success in both retail and wholesale pre-owned vehicle operations
Expertise in digital retailing platforms and inventory management tools
Strong negotiation, leadership, and team-building skills
Knowledge of multiple used vehicle sourcing channels
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and dealership DMS systems
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Education & Experience:Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred
1015 years of automotive experience in dealership management, sales, or vendor roles
Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
AFIP Certification a plus
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands regularly
Must be able to drive and possess a valid driver's license
Travel via car or plane as needed for auctions or dealer meetings
Visual requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception
Frequent talking, hearing, reaching, and interaction with vehicles and showroom assets
