BDR is seeking a Technical Training Developer to join our growing team! This position will be performed virtually from the individual's home office working on EST time schedule. This position requires US Citizenship with a Public Trust or the ability to obtain one.

Role Overview
BDR is looking for an technical training developer to join our Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) team, where you'll collaborate with data center infrastructure engineers to provide a wide range of associated training content for the VA. You'll co-manage the curriculum design and publication process from end-to-end, with opportunities to lead, design, and learn. This position will entail daily project management oversight alongside developing and improving training materials.
The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver, able to demonstrate experience in developing a variety of learning solution types as well as have capacity to communicate about data center infrastructure design and maintenance. Candidates who are familiar with developing training using emerging technologies will stand out (e.g., AI, animation, etc.). Our existing and future training formats will include: virtual classroom learning, self-paced e-learning modules, animated videos, comic strips, newsletters, bulletins, professional standards, and other multimedia assets.
Responsibilities
Curriculum/Training Design
Work with the team to analyze and identify gaps in current training curriculum
Create graphics and visuals that convey complex ideas, features, processes, and other information, and translate technical information into user-friendly content including diagrams, charts, visual aids, sequential art (which includes standardized human characters as well as anthropomorphized inanimate characters), and more.
Ensure assets meet outlined objectives, VA brand standards, and relevant accessibility standards—work with technical writer to bring documentation up to Section 508 standards
You thrive in technical environments, enjoy new technologies, and understand how to communicate technical topics to both engineers and non-technical staff
Experience and or knowledge in the data center technical, equipment, architecture, and maintenance areas is highly valuable but not required.
Design Project Management
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, tracking and communicating about progress daily
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand training requests and audiences
Establish relationships with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to efficiently collect information and foster a collaborative working environment
Translate requests into concept designs, while building your understanding of the nuances of the VA environment, requirements, processes, and timelines
Co-author and manage learning content, adhering to milestones and deadlines.
Lead review sessions to ensure solutions are developed, tested, and revised on schedule
Work with the technical writer to update, archive, refine, manage, maintain, and organize and training materials in a centralized repository.
Design and Collaboration Tools
Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
AI tools such as Midjourney and Leonardo.ai
Animation tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro or similar
Microsoft Office and Teams, Jira, SharePoint
Email newsletter platforms
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in adult education, learning science, instructional design, educational technology, or a related field (e.g., information technology)
Proven experience designing and storyboarding for a wide variety of formats
3-5 years of recent technical Design and Development experience
Expert proficiency in MS Office tools (particularly Word and PowerPoint)
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, AI, Visio, SharePoint, and other tools
Stay up to date on emerging instructional technologies and tools
Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust clearance
Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
At least three samples required upon application.
Prior, successful experience working remotely; daily meetings and collaboration via Microsoft Teams is required.
In addition, U.S Citizenship is required. Select applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and be able to obtain a government-granted security clearance. Individuals may also be subject to a background investigation including, but not limited to criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.
