Senior .NET / Visual Basic Developer – Technical Lead

*Company:* Navancio LLC *Location:* Remote – United States *Job Type:* Full-time *Schedule:* Monday–Friday, primarily 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Eastern Time *Pay Range:* $110,000–$140,000 annually, based on experience *Employment:* Direct employment with Navancio LLC; no C2C arrangements *Clearance Requirements:* Must be able to successfully complete and maintain a federal Tier 1 background investigation *About the Position* Navancio LLC is seeking a Senior .NET / Visual Basic Developer to serve as Technical Lead in support of the operations, maintenance, and enhancement of a mission-critical Department of the Interior enterprise application. This is a hands-on technical leadership position supporting a mature, multi-tier federal application. The technical environment includes Microsoft ASP.NET Framework 4.8.1 Web Forms, Visual Basic/VB.NET, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Agent Jobs, JavaScript, AjaxControlToolkit, SharpMap, Esri ArcGIS, and Crystal Reports. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience taking ownership of established Visual Basic/VB.NET and ASP.NET Web Forms applications. This role requires someone who is comfortable troubleshooting production issues, maintaining legacy functionality, and implementing secure, controlled enhancements without unnecessarily replacing a stable system. *Key Responsibilities* * Serve as the senior technical lead for application development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement activities. * Maintain and enhance applications built with Visual Basic/VB.NET and ASP.NET Web Forms. * Diagnose and resolve application defects, production issues, workflow problems, and performance concerns. * Develop and maintain integrations with Microsoft SQL Server, including queries, stored procedures, database scripts, and SQL Agent-related processes. * Lead technical analysis, solution design, code reviews, troubleshooting, and implementation activities. * Implement approved enhancements to application workflows, forms, reporting, document uploads, searches, filters, and other business functionality. * Support application interfaces with GIS and Esri-based components. * Collaborate with the GIS/Esri Engineer on application-to-ArcGIS integrations and data flows. * Support testing, release preparation, configuration updates, deployment activities, and technical documentation. * Investigate and remediate application-level security vulnerabilities identified through static code analysis or government security reviews. * Support secure authentication modernization activities, including Login.gov, multifactor authentication, and related application security improvements. * Maintain code and configuration using government-approved version-control and software-development processes. * Provide technical guidance to team members and communicate technical risks, recommendations, and dependencies to project leadership. * Participate in weekly project meetings and coordinate with Navancio’s program management team and government technical personnel. * Respond to high-priority application issues and support urgent troubleshooting when required. * Support application maintenance, defect correction, database integrity, cybersecurity remediation, system enhancements, and issue resolution. *Required Qualifications* * Eight or more years of professional software-development experience, including significant experience supporting production enterprise applications. * Strong hands-on experience with Visual Basic/VB.NET. * Strong hands-on experience with the Microsoft ASP.NET Framework and Web Forms. * Strong Microsoft SQL Server development and troubleshooting experience. * Experience maintaining and modernizing mature or legacy enterprise applications. * Strong knowledge of JavaScript and web application development. * Experience diagnosing production defects and tracing issues across application, database, and integration layers. * Experience with source control, code review, testing, release management, and software configuration management. * Ability to quickly understand an existing codebase and make controlled changes without disrupting production functionality. * Experience working in environments with formal cybersecurity, testing, or change-management requirements. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to independently lead technical work while collaborating with project management, GIS, cybersecurity, and government stakeholders. * Must reside within the United States. * Must be able to successfully complete and maintain the required federal background investigation. *Preferred Qualifications* * Experience with AjaxControlToolkit, Crystal Reports, or SharpMap. * Experience supporting ArcGIS integrations and GIS-related data flows. * Experience with Azure or GitHub Enterprise. * Experience implementing Login.gov or other multifactor-authentication solutions. * Familiarity with FISMA, NIST, and federal cybersecurity requirements. * Experience supporting federal IT systems or Department of the Interior systems. * Previous experience serving as a technical lead on a long-term application operations and maintenance program. *Work Environment* * Remote position within the United States. * Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, primarily 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Eastern Time. * Frequent collaboration with Navancio program management, technical team members, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders. * Work is performed in a structured federal environment with formal testing, security, documentation, and change-management requirements. *Background Requirements* Employment is contingent upon the candidate’s ability to successfully complete and maintain a federal Tier 1 background investigation and satisfy all applicable project security requirements. *Why Join Navancio LLC* Navancio LLC provides the opportunity to work on meaningful federal technology initiatives in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.
