The position requires a strong understanding of systems architecture and expertise to lead the design, integration, and deployment of complex, mission-critical solutions. This role owns technical execution across the full lifecycle—from architecture and system design through integration, field deployment, and sustainment.The Senior Systems Engineer serves as the technical authority on assigned programs, directly advising customers, leading engineering efforts, and resolving complex system-level challenges. This is a hands-on role requiring deep networking expertise, strong customer presence, and the ability to drive technical decisions in high-visibility environments.Duties and Responsibilities:Provide hands-on installation and team leadership for Cisco, Linux networking environmentsArchitect and deliver end-to-end networked and compute solutionsLead system integration, validation, and field deployment activitiesServe as primary technical interface to customers and stakeholdersLead small engineering teams and drive technical standardsCoordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure mission successQualifications and Requirements:U.S. citizenship, no dual citizenshipCurrent DoD security clearance or ability to obtain a security clearanceBachelor's degree in a related technical field or additional years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree10+ years of progressive systems engineering experience, including architecture and design-level responsibilitiesDemonstrated ownership of complex hardware and software systems integrationsDemonstrated technical expertise in these areas:Advanced IP networking (CCNA-level or higher): switching, routing, OSPF, BGPVMware ESXi and Kubernetes experience in production environmentsLinux system administration (CLI, networking, multi-NIC configuration)IPv6, VPN, VRF, and PKI implementationProven customer-facing leadership in technical program executionAdvanced system troubleshooting and root cause analysis expertiseResponsive to industry trends and opportunities that advance the overall strategyDecisive leader with the ability to make decisions independently, quickly, and with little supervisionExcellent written and verbal English communication skillsAbility to effectively communicate at all levelsAvailability to support extensive CONUS and OCONUS travelMust have a valid driver's licensePreferred Qualifications:Current U.S. government security clearance is highly preferredExperience with installation and support of 5G and private cellular networks is desiredIndividuals with disabilities who need assistance with the application process may contact us by email: hr@oceusnetworks.com or phone: 703-234-9176.Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and InclusionAt Oceus Networks our people are as diverse as our projects.
