Job applicants are considered for employment without regard to race, religion, color, sex, national origin, age, marital or veteran status, medical condition or disability, or any other status protected by law.GENERAL SUMMARY:GEON is seeking post-secondary school interns to join our Operations team, which provides global solutions and services to enable GEON and its customers to reach world-class performance.The Internship program provides a student attending college/university with the opportunity to engage in projects within operations management in manufacturing.During the internship, students will establish relationships with peers and leaders, learn fundamentals and receive coaching performance feedback from the GEON leadership.An internship in the Operations group, successfully completed, could lead to an opportunity to join the GEON G-Force Leadership Development Program after graduation.EXPERIENCE YOU WILL GAIN:Upon completion of the internship program, our interns will have gained meaningful, real-world experiences in key areas that demonstrate competencies such as: relationship building, negotiation skills, research, planning and management. There will be many opportunities to use presentation skills with peers and business leaders, gain hands-on experience and have real work life experiences to network, enhance industry related and soft skills, and explore career niches.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe specific assignments are geared to the needs of the plant during that time, as well as the interests of the Intern Student – but are developed with a view to developing leadership competencies and process engineering capabilitiesLead and / or participate in cross-functional project teams.Assist in the creation of world-class internal processes in operations, and operations planning.Identify and develop key operational excellence metrics and measures to facilitate performance improvements.Interact with senior management, build internal network and relationships with other employees both in Operations and across the organization, and make a difference in GEON’s future success.Students will be provided with specific mentors on project activity and will receive coaching from senior manufacturing personnel.Orientation training is provided at the start of the work semester and students will report out on their activity each semester to representatives of GEON’s senior manufacturing management and Human Resources.QUALIFICATIONS:Currently pursuing a degree: Engineering, Operations or Supply Chain Management focus.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to acquire, assimilate, and analyze data from multiple systems and data sources using a variety of business intelligence and reporting tools.Strong communication and presentation skills adaptable for engaging with multiple levels across the organization.Ability to operate and take initiative in an environment of ambiguity; holds themselves and team members accountable for a high level of performance. Some project management and data analysis experience is important.Must have ability to reason and develop critical thinking skills.Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications.Proficient with MS Word & Excel preferred.Self-motivated.Collaborative.All of these internship positions are posted on our Careers job posting site at https://geon.com/careers/.
