Job Description: Must Haves: Cloud Native, Microservices Architecture, Serverless Architecture, DAPR, Kubernetes Key Responsibilities: Lead and grow an efficient and high performing diverse software development organization with a culture of agile development focused on developing best-in-class Azure cloud native digital applications. Foster a positive team environment, driving standards, consistency, collaboration, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement across the team. Cultivate a trusting relationship with key stakeholders and Client leadership, earning trust, and building the team’s reputation to innovate and deliver with quality. Partner with business analysts and IT architecture members to lead detailed discovery and translate business intents and requirements into compelling information system solutions. Own end-to-end solutioning over the full life cycle. Collaboratively plan with other IT team members to proactively establish technical direction, roadmaps (priority and timing), Client’s, and to plan for and manage solution obsolescence. Ensure initiatives are well managed and delivered on expectations regarding quality, functionality, timeliness, and cost. Exhibit technical currency in designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining microservices-based system in a distributed Azure-based architecture. Serve as the primary solutions’ leader for cloud native applications, determining use cases and technical solutions to address business functional needs. Lead the evolution of delivery for Client’s Digital Experience technologies through modern CI/CD and DevSecOps principles. Establish a center of excellence for low code / no code capabilities using the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents) to user apps. Stays current on the latest software development methodologies, trends and techniques, and spearheads improvements that support efficient, quality application development. Proactively identifies gaps and introduces process improvements that help the broader organization become more efficient. Lead by example and foster a culture of personal and mutual accountability. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and learning. Develop and foster an inclusive culture for all team members. Advise on resource planning, personnel decisions, and team structures to meet current and expected future needs. Provide inputs on Opex / Capex budgets. Team Member Leadership Build a strong culture of accountability and high performance. Recruit, develop, and retain top performers. Create and implement an effective onboarding plan for every team member. Recruit, train and develop a team with skills and experience aligned to meet Client’s needs and the market with a focus on retention of top performers. Set clear expectations for all Team Members. Analyze goals, activities, and results to determine action plans to improve individual and team performance per stated performance management guidelines. Ensure that Client values are being demonstrated and policies are being followed. Support Institutional Initiatives Keep current on institutional goals, objectives, and progress. Engage in institutional sponsored activities and initiatives as appropriate. Lead with care in support of change initiatives that impact organization. Manages and assists in coordinating efforts between departments within UMA. Work Experience, Skills & Abilities: Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering, computer science or a similar discipline from an accredited institution. 10+ years of relevant experience including enterprise-level information technology initiatives in cloud transformation effort. Broadly experienced with technical depth in technology architecture, patterns, and platforms, integrating SaaS solutions and the ability to map solution requirements to the right pattern or technology, establish best process / practice, and develop others’ technical capabilities. Significant knowledge with product design, engineering, quality assurance and user experience. Experience developing green field projects based on C# and .NET framework, Azure technologies including AKS, Azure Service Bus, Kubernetes, SQL, Cosmos, Azure Data Factory. Technical proficiency and hands-on experience with Restful API, backend systems, & platform development technology. Significant experience and certifications with Microsoft Azure, architecture, engineering, information systems development, microservices, networking and data integration. Exhibits an information-based decision-making mindset, strong analytical and technical capabilities in solving complex problems. Ability to develop and clearly articulate solution architecture and technology and lead teams via influence through ambiguity and complexity to a new way of working and to support program, process, and organizational improvements across the organization. Natural curiosity to learn, ask questions, identify mistaken assumptions, and bring an open-minded approach. A high level of initiative and results focused. Able to support a diverse and inclusive work environment. Preferred Requirements: Master’s degree, preferably in software engineering, computer science or a similar technical discipline from an accredited institution. Minimum of 10 years client-side, solution development and architecture experience at like or greater scale and complexity.
