Estimator Position OverviewPetersen Brothers Construction is looking for a dynamic experienced Estimator to join our preconstruction team. A person in this position is responsible for providing overall on-site leadership for the team including supervision, schedule and financial management, subcontractor relations, and other related activities. We are looking for an Estimator to play a pivotal role in our preconstruction phase. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, analyzing specifications, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure accurate pricing. A person in this position will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop comprehensive and detailed cost estimates.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation
Utilize industry-standard methods to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine scope, materials, and labor requirements.
Conduct thorough take-offs and quantify materials, labor, and equipment costs.
Proposal Preparation
Prepare comprehensive pricing proposals.
Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate and up-to-date pricing information.
Evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure completeness and competitiveness.
Team Involvement
Providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment with a team of preconstruction professionals
Conduct training sessions and ensure the team is up-to-date with the latest industry trends and estimating techniques.
Risk Assessment
Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with project estimates.
Work collaboratively with other departments to develop strategies to mitigate risks and enhance project success.
Client and Stakeholder Communication
Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and expectations.
Participate in kickoff meetings, site visits, and client presentations as necessary.
Qualifications Required
5 years' of estimating experience in the construction industry.
Strong proficiency in construction estimating software and tools.
Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
Analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field
Experience ProCore, SmartBid, BlueBeam, Excel, Outlook and Word
Proven experience as a Construction Estimator with a focus on senior-level responsibilities
Familiarity with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) or similar business framework
Proficiency in project budget control
