Mental Health Counselor

Job Description Job purposeThe Mental Health Counselor will provide assessment and individual/group counseling sessions to ensure the behavioral health needs of those needing such services are effectively and efficiently served.Duties and responsibilitiesAssist with Open Access and the initial referral processComplete assessment with diagnosis to explain medical necessity of treatmentHelp clients define goals, plan action and gain insightEncourage clients to discuss/examine emotions and experiencesWork with familiesHelp clients achieve identified goalsDevelop therapeutic processesRefer clients to other necessary servicesWork with individuals, groups and communities to improve behavioral healthTake a holistic approach to behavioral health careComplete all necessary documentation in a timely mannerComplete other duties as required by the position and/or as assigned by the Chief Executive OfficerQualificationsEducation - Minimum of a Master degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related health field.Skills/Abilities- Effective oral and written communication.Professional Certification- Clinical practice license required, LPC, LCSWExperience- Licensed QMHP as defined by State regulationsPLPC/LPC Pay range is 49,500 - 68,000LMSW/LCSW Pay range is 55,000 - 78,000Working conditionsGeneral Conditions- Work is generally performed in office type settings where answering phone and using computers and other technology should be expected.No special conditions apply.Physical requirementsGeneral Conditions- Job duties may require sitting or standing for long periods of time. Travel, with some trips requiring several hours in a vehicle, should be expected.
