Principal Software Engineer (C++, Python)

This role focuses on building scalable solutions in Linux environments using Python, Java, and C++, with opportunities to support RF and geolocation-based systems.The ideal candidate has deep experience across the full software development lifecycle, strong programming expertise, and the ability to lead technical efforts in a collaborative engineering environment.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain complex software systems based on defined requirementsAnalyze user and system requirements to derive software design and performance specificationsDevelop new features and enhance existing applications to improve functionality and performanceDebug and resolve software defects and system issuesImplement and optimize algorithms to meet performance and timing constraintsIntegrate software components into new or existing systems and environmentsDevelop and execute test procedures to validate software functionality and performanceDesign and implement database queries and data processing solutionsProduce and review technical documentation for software and system componentsCollaborate with system and hardware engineers to define requirements, constraints, and system interfacesEvaluate hardware/software trade-offs and recommend efficient solutions, including reuse of COTS/GOTS componentsMonitor system performance and ensure operational requirements are metProvide recommendations to improve development processes, documentation, and system performanceLead or support software development teams and ensure successful delivery of technical solutionsRequired QualificationsMust be fully cleared with a recent MD polygraphMust be willing and able to work fully onsite at the location listed in this postingBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)20+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs of similar scope and complexityStrong experience developing software in Linux environmentsStrong programming experience in Python, Java, and C++Experience developing and maintaining complex software systems, including real-time or data-intensive applicationsExperience implementing algorithms and working with large data setsExperience with software testing, debugging, and performance optimizationExperience working with modern software development methodologies and best practicesDesired QualificationsExperience with geolocation technologies in RF environmentsBackground in Electrical Engineering or related fieldExperience working with RF systems or signal processing applicationsExperience leading technical teams or mentoring junior engineers#CJFantom Corp is a Software Development, Agile Cloud, Cyber Security (Risk Management, Assessments & Authorization (A&A)), Data, AI Platform (Computer Vision Models), Podcasting Media Services, and IT Services provider.
