Sr. Americas Tax Manager
Job Summary:The Americas Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing regional tax governance, compliance, and risk management across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. This role leads indirect tax compliance activities, supports corporate income tax and transfer pricing matters, and serves as the primary regional tax liaison between headquarters, local business teams, and external advisors. The position provides strategic tax guidance to support business operations, cross-border expansion, and operational scalability while ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.General Duties and Responsibilities:Build and maintain a structured tax governance framework across the United States, Canada, and Latin America to ensure visibility and oversight of all tax obligations, filings, and historical tax positions.Serve as the regional tax owner and primary coordinator between headquarters, local business teams, and external tax advisors.Manage end-to-end U.S. Sales and Use Tax compliance across all applicable jurisdictions, including taxability analysis, return filings, exemption certificate management, and marketplace facilitator compliance.Monitor changes in U.S. state and local tax regulations, nexus standards, and enforcement trends, assessing business impact and implementing compliance responses.Support indirect tax compliance and tax structuring activities across Canada and Latin America, including VAT, GST, withholding tax, and statutory reporting obligations.Provide tax guidance related to market expansion, cross-border operations, and regional business initiatives.Support U.S. federal and state corporate income tax compliance processes in coordination with external advisors.Manage 1099 reporting and property tax compliance activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.Support ASC 740 tax provision calculations and financial reporting processes in coordination with finance and external advisors.Support global transfer pricing compliance across intercompany transactions, including documentation preparation, risk monitoring, and audit readiness activities.Conduct tax health reviews to identify historical tax exposures, compliance risks, and internal control gaps across all tax categories.Support remediation initiatives, including voluntary disclosures, audit preparation, process improvements, and corrective actions.Serve as a key contact for tax audits, regulatory inquiries, and correspondence with tax authorities.Drive process optimization initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and data accuracy across tax operations and reporting workflows.Support implementation and enhancement of ERP systems and tax engines such as Avalara and Vertex to improve tax automation and compliance management.Manage external tax advisors to ensure service quality, efficiency, and alignment with business objectives.Partner with commercial, e-commerce, sales, and channel teams to provide tax guidance related to pricing, promotions, and channel strategy decisions.Support strategic business initiatives and cross-border operational decisions as a key tax business partner for the Americas region.Ensure compliance with company policies, tax regulations, internal controls, and financial governance standards.Other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:This job does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but is expected to provide functional oversight of external advisors, consultants, and cross-functional project teams, but does not require direct people management responsibilities.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field required; CPA, MST, or equivalent professional certification preferred, or equivalent work experience in tax compliance and tax advisory functions.Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in corporate tax, indirect tax, international tax, or tax compliance, preferably in eMobility, consumer electronics, or powersports.Strong experience managing U.S. Sales and Use Tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.Experience supporting Canadian and Latin American tax compliance, including VAT/GST and withholding tax requirements.Experience supporting U.S. federal and state corporate income tax compliance and ASC 740 reporting processes.Working knowledge of transfer pricing concepts, intercompany transactions, and tax documentation requirements.Strong understanding of 1099 reporting requirements and property tax fundamentals.Experience managing tax audits, voluntary disclosures, and regulatory inquiries.Experience working with ERP systems, tax engines, and tax automation tools such as SAP, Avalara, or Vertex.Big 4 public accounting experience (Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMG) strongly preferred.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities.Ability to interpret complex tax regulations and provide practical business guidance.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across global and regional teams.Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced multinational environment.Strategic thinker with a high degree of ownership, execution capability, and a results-oriented approach.Experience working in a multinational company within an international team is a plus.Bilingual in English and Mandarin is a plus.Physical Demands:This role operates in a professional office environment and requires extended periods of sitting and working on a computer while reviewing financial records, tax documentation, and regulatory materials.
