Principal of Vista Heights - Lake Mountain School DistrictJob will close on Thursday, April 30, 2026Salary: $113,991 - $164,113 based on experienceStart date: 07/01/2026Schedule: 242 dayContact: Vicki Carter vcarter@alpinedistrict.orgJob DescriptionThe Secondary Principal assists in creating conditions to ensure that all students acquire essential knowledge, skills and dispositions; provides support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for directing overall site operations, services, and staff at an elementary school; provides information and serves as a resource to others; enforces established policies and regulatory requirements; coordinates school activities and addresses issues, situations and/or problems that arise on campus or with enrolled students. The Secondary Principal reports to the Secondary Supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe Secondary Principal Will Need To Do The FollowingChair meetings for the purpose of coordinating activities and ensuring that outcomes achieve school, district and/or state objectives.Delegate responsibility for a variety of administrative functions to the Assistant Principal and other personnel for the purpose of managing the workload more efficiently.Develop budgets and financial forecasts for the purpose of providing financial guidance and recommendations to administrative personnel, Superintendent and governing Board.Evaluate assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.Facilitate communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and resolving conflicts.Implement policies, procedures and processes for the purpose of providing direction and complying with mandated requirements.Manage school administrative functions (e.g. facility maintenance, budget, staffing, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines.Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.Prepare a wide variety of materials (e.g. reports, student activities, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information.Present information (e.g. budget overviews, accounting processes, distribution formulas, etc.) for the purpose of communication information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.Represent the school within community forums for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and assisting with issues related to the school environment.Supervise instructional personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of the school's curriculum.The Secondary Principal Will Need To Have The FollowingKNOWLEDGECandidates are expected to have an understanding in each of the following areas:Academic achievementCulture, climate and connectionProfessional capacityCommunity engagementOperations, facilities and resourcesSpecific knowledge is needed in student and staff supervision, as well as addressing student misbehaviorActionable awareness of district policies, practices and procedures must be attainedSkillsCandidates are expected to have competence in the following areas:CommunicationCollaborationCritical thinkingCreativityUsing district computer systemsTime managementAbilitiesFlexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstancesWork with and analyze data utilizing defined but different processesOperate equipment using standardized methodsWork with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groupsIndependent problem solving to analyze issues and create action plansMaintain confidentialitySet prioritiesWork as part of a teamWork with frequent interruptionsCreate a positive school climate for students, staff and communityMotivate staffAdapt to changing work prioritiesWork independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve district and school objectivesManage multiple departmentsDirect the use of budgeted funds within a work unitOther FunctionsOther duties as assignedIn-person daily attendanceSome travel may be requiredQualification RequirementsBe fingerprinted and clear a criminal background check.Education: Must have an Administrative certificate. Master's in Educational Leadership is preferred.Experience: Education related experience is required. Teaching experience is preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS---Not Limited To The FollowingOccasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 30% walking and 20% standing. The job is performed under temperature variations depending on the season and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
