Specializing in high-quality Life Insurance, Health Insurance with global coverage, and Travel Assistance Plans, BMI is committed to innovating insurance products for the international community.Candidates applying for this role must reside in Miami, Florida.About this role:The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing financial reporting, statutory filings, premium accounting, claims reconciliation, and regulatory compliance specific to the life and health insurance sector. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data while supporting internal stakeholders, auditors, and regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, knowledge of insurance accounting principles, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.Responsibilities:Journal entries.Fixed assets ledger maintenance and depreciation calculations.Bank and general ledger account reconciliations.Expense accruals and prepaid expense amortizations.Assist with preparation of regulatory, rating agency and other ad-hoc filings.Assist with the preparation of financial statements, disclosures and management reports.Assist with audit and examination requests.Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field3-5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in insurance or financial servicesUnderstanding of GAAP; exposure to SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systemsProficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the insurance industry, including claims handling, policy terms, and payment processes.Solid understanding of US GAAP; knowledge of SAP/NAIC reporting a plus.CPA candidate or designation a plusExperience with insurance accounting systems or ERP (Oracle (JDE), SAP, or similar). Exposure to mortgage accounting, claims systems, or actuarial collaboration.
