Senior Information System Security Officer with Security Clearance

What You Will Do: At Independent Software, as a Senior Information System Security Officer (ISSO), you will support the security posture of mission-critical systems, programs, and enclaves. In this role, you will implement, maintain, and enforce information assurance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure systems remain secure, compliant, and operational. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and compliance teams to monitor system security, conduct audits, manage vulnerabilities, and support accreditation efforts, including System Security Plan (SSP) compliance. Key Responsibilities:Perform all procedures necessary to ensure the protection of information system assets against unauthorized access, modification, or destructionMonitor and analyze Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) to identify and respond to security incidentsConduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with security policies, procedures, and SSP requirementsPerform vulnerability assessments and scans, including user accounts, application access, file systems, and external interfacesDevelop, test, and support security tools including firewalls, IDS, antivirus solutions, and software deployment toolsResearch, evaluate, and implement new security technologies and solutionsDevelop, implement, and enforce security policies and procedures across systems, applications, and networksSupport security documentation, including configuration management and SSP maintenanceCommunicate security incidents, alerts, and risks to appropriate stakeholdersSupport security awareness and training initiatives Required Skills and Qualifications:Experience supporting information system security programs in classified or regulated environmentsKnowledge of System Security Plans (SSP), security policy implementation, and compliance requirementsExperience with vulnerability scanning tools and security assessment processesFamiliarity with IDS/IPS technologies, firewalls, and endpoint security solutionsUnderstanding of system configuration and document management processesStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and within a team environment Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED and fourteen (14) years of relevant Information System Security experience; ORBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline and ten (10) years of relevant experience Certifications:Certification in compliance with the requirements of the DoD 8570 IAT Level I or higher is required.
