Product Summary: Cabinetry hardware, lumber, PPE, laminate countertops, plywood/laminates, finishes/coatings, fasteners, abrasives, sinks, lighting, machinery, hand tools, and power tools.
Job Summary
Lead and manage a purchasing team in support of company sales, profit and balance sheet objectives. Interface with suppliers, customers, leaders and contributors at all levels of the company. This is finished-goods purchasing, not raw materials.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership of the purchasing function for assigned products continually improving end-to-end supply chain results, customer satisfaction, total cost containment and cross-functional collaboration
People management of buyers and expeditors including performance appraisals, coaching, counseling, hiring, team development and adherence to expense budgets
Inventory management of $45 to $65 million, adhering to inventory valuation budgets, optimizing inventory turns and fill rates while minimizing inventory obsolescence and expiration
Collaborate with customer service, warehousing, accounting, product management and sales teams utilizing supply chain processes to optimize transportation costs, warehousing expense, gross profit and inventory utilization
Oversee use of ERP modules involving demand, purchasing and inventory ensuring master data integrity, effective material forecasting/planning and sufficient EDI and other forms of purchase order automation
Work with buyers and sales directors to determine appropriate inventory policies, stocking regions and locations considering order fulfillment options (ship from stock, special order, direct ship)
Manage, stratify and improve inventory results as products progress throughout each stage of a product life cycle with an eye toward minimizing nonproductive inventory (slow, overstock, obsolete, aged and expired)
Work with large data sets, mine information and extrapolate manageable exceptions and trends
Monitor, track, maintain and improve domestic and import purchasing transactions in conjunction with buyers, expeditors, suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and financial teammates
Interface with supplier representatives, buyers and expeditors to measure and improve supplier supply chain performance

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience and/or Training
5+ years leadership and management of a purchasing team in a high-volume distribution environment
Ability to assume increased responsibilities based on readiness and need
Technology/Equipment
Advanced excel skills
Robust ERP system experience
EDI experience (purchase order transactions)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and/or Training
2+ years of progression in supply chain roles outside of purchasing
Technology/Equipment
DMSI / Agility, SAP a plus
Business intelligence, reporting, relational database queries and other data mining tools (Eg. MS Access, SQL)
