Role: High Performance Computing (HPC) EngineerDuration: 6 months plus potential to convert to FTELocation: Fully onsite in Concord area of Charlotte is first priority and required for those wanting to convert to FTE.If unable to find a local resource we could present remote options, but they would need to travel to Concord NC for initial onboarding, meetings as needed, and if they want to convert to full time, eventually would need to relocate to work fully onsite.Job OverviewClient is seeking a High Performance Computing (HPC) Engineer with deep experience designing, building, and optimizing HPC environments. This individual will play a key role in evaluating the current environment, helping build the business case for future-state architecture, ordering and planning equipment, and supporting HPC infrastructure modernization efforts. This is a highly specialized search requiring candidates with proven HPC design and implementation experience-not general systems engineers.Must-Have ExperienceHPC InfrastructureExperience designing, architecting, and implementing enterprise HPC environmentsStrong understanding of HPC compute, storage, networking, and cluster architectureExperience optimizing HPC performance, scalability, and workload managementAbility to recommend and justify infrastructure investments through business cases and ROI discussionsDell HPC EnvironmentPrevious experience supporting or architecting Dell-based HPC environmentsFamiliarity with Dell HPC reference architectures and ecosystemExperience evaluating or migrating to alternative platforms is highly desirableModeling & SimulationCandidates must come from environments supporting engineering simulations and modeling workloads.Strong preference for experience with:STAR-CCM+AbaqusConverge CFDAdditional pluses:Slurm schedulerLinux HPC administrationGPU-based computingNVIDIA environmentsHPC storage optimizationParallel computing environmentsCluster migration projectsInfrastructure Transition ExperienceClient currently operates in a Dell HPC environment and may evaluate:Penguin SolutionsDell next-generation solutionsOther HPC vendorsCandidates who have participated in platform evaluations, hardware refreshes, or HPC vendor transitions will stand out.ResponsibilitiesAssess current HPC environment and future requirementsHelp develop business case and infrastructure roadmapRecommend compute, storage, and networking architectureAssist with equipment selection and procurement planningDesign and optimize HPC clustersImprove simulation and modeling performanceDocument architecture recommendations and deployment approachSupport rollout and knowledge transfer activities
