Empowering Women as Leaders (EWL) is a non-profit organization focused on helping non-traditional age women reach their highest potential through scholarships, mentoring, and networking. Founded in 2004, EWL provides financial assistance to college students who may not qualify for traditional funding. The organization pairs scholars with mentors and offers networking opportunities to support their academic, professional, and leadership growth. EWL operates as a working board of professional volunteers who are deeply committed to its mission and the success of its scholars.Role DescriptionThis is a volunteer part-time remote position, preferably located in the greater Houston, Texas area. Board Members will be involved in strategic decision-making, governance, fundraising, and oversight of the organization's activities depending on the Board position. They will actively participate in board meetings, committees, and engage in networking activities to support the mission of EWL.QualificationsExperience in one or more of the following: governance, strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, recruitment, event planning, project managementStrong communication and leadership skillsAbility to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse group of professionalsKnowledge or some experience in non-profit management or volunteeringCommitment to supporting and empowering women leadersExperience serving on boards or committees is a plusUnderstanding of issues facing non-traditional age women in education and leadershipBachelor's degree or equivalent experience
