Diesel Mechanic
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair and maintenance, with experience in various heavy equipment and automotive systems. This role requires mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all vehicles and equipment operate efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics on diesel engines and related systems.
Perform repairs on various types of heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, and farm machinery.
Maintain and repair vehicle systems such as transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension, HVAC, and electrical components.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication tasks.
Execute routine maintenance tasks including brake repair, tire service, shocks & struts replacement, and alignment.
Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
Ensure compliance with safety standards while performing heavy lifting and operating machinery.
Experience
Previous mechanic experience is required; dealership experience is a plus.
Familiarity with automotive diagnostics and vehicle maintenance practices.
Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and tractor-trailers is preferred.
Knowledge of industrial equipment repair techniques is beneficial.
Proficiency in soldering and assembly tasks is an advantage.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work on diverse systems including diesel engines.
