Children's Ministry Leader

Job Title: Children’s Ministry Leader Reports To: Senior Pastor Position Type: Part-time; 30 hours a week and attend special events Summary of Position The Children’s Ministry Leader is responsible for providing vision, leadership, and oversight for all ministries serving children from birth through elementary age within the Global Methodist Church. This role ensures that children are nurtured in faith, taught the gospel of Jesus Christ, and integrated into the life of the church in ways consistent with Wesleyan theology and the mission of the Global Methodist Church: to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. Core Responsibilities Spiritual Leadership and Vision Provide spiritual leadership that reflects a growing, Christ-centered faith and commitment to the doctrines and practices of the Global Methodist Church. Develop and implement a biblically grounded, age-appropriate discipleship pathway for children. Partner with parents and guardians as the primary faith influencers in the spiritual formation of their children. Pray regularly for children, families, volunteers, and the overall ministry. Program Development and Oversight Plan, lead, and evaluate children’s ministry programs, including but not limited to: Sunday School / Sunday Morning Children’s Programming Children’s Worship or Worship Integration Vacation Bible School Midweek programs Seasonal and special events Graduation of students moving into youth with Bible presentation. Select and implement curriculum aligned with Scripture, Wesleyan theology, and GMC values. Ensure all programs are safe, engaging, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate. Volunteer Recruitment, Training, and Care Recruit, equip, and supervise volunteers for all children’s ministry programs. Create parental children ministry team to assist in task that can be delegated. Schedule monthly meetings with parental team. Provide regular training, encouragement, and spiritual support to volunteers. Build and maintain a healthy volunteer culture that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and servant leadership. Always ensure adequate volunteer-to-child ratios per Ministry Safe guidelines Safety, Policies, and Administration Implement and enforce child protection and Ministry Safe policies. Review records for attendance, volunteers, and incident reports. Manage the children’s ministry budget responsibly and within approved guidelines. Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and church leadership regarding programs, policies, and events. Collaboration and Church Integration Work collaboratively with pastoral staff, church leadership, and other ministry leaders. Support intergenerational worship and church-wide events as appropriate. Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and ongoing ministry evaluation. Represent children’s ministry needs and perspectives in broader church discussions. Qualifications Spiritual and Personal Qualifications A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a clear testimony of faith. Alignment with the doctrine, mission, and values of the Global Methodist Church. Demonstrated passion for children’s spiritual formation and family ministry. High level of personal integrity, emotional maturity, and relational skills. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, child development, or a related field preferred (or equivalent ministry experience). Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in children’s ministry leadership or a comparable preferred role in a conservative religious setting. Experience recruiting and leading volunteers. Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods and child development principles. Skills and Competencies Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to select, plan, implement, and evaluate ministry programs effectively. Comfortable working with children, parents, volunteers, and staff from diverse backgrounds. Basic administrative and technology skills (email, church management software, scheduling tools). Physical and Work Environment Requirements Ability to engage actively with children, including standing, bending, and lifting moderate weight as needed but not limited to. Availability to work Sundays, occasional evenings, and special events. Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience. Work Location: In person
