Billing Specialist

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing medical billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely reimbursement. This role requires a strong understanding of medical coding, billing procedures, and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. The Billing Specialist plays a crucial part in maintaining the financial health of our practice while providing excellent service to patients and providers. Prior experience in medical office settings and proficiency with EMR systems are highly valued. Duties Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards. Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding and billing compliance. Follow up on unpaid claims and coordinate with insurance companies for claim resolution. Manage patient accounts, including billing inquiries, payment posting, and collections. Maintain detailed records of billing activities within EMR/EHR systems. Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and billing policies to prevent errors or fraud. Collaborate with medical staff to clarify documentation requirements for accurate coding. Assist in updating and maintaining medical records related to billing transactions. Experience Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related healthcare administrative roles. Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and medical terminology. Familiarity with medical office operations and experience working with EMR/EHR systems. Understanding of medical records management and healthcare compliance standards. Prior experience in medical collections or revenue cycle management is preferred. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all billing activities.
