HiWe have an urgent role of Survey Technician.Job Title: Survey TechnicianLocation: Cherry Point, NCJob Type: Full-timeOnsite roleIntroduction:We are seeking a motivated Survey Technician to join our team in an intermediate-level role focused on geospatial surveying, LiDAR data collection, and CAD production. This position is responsible for performing field surveys of installed infrastructure, operating LiDAR and survey equipment, transforming spatial data into North Carolina State Plane (Easting/Northing) coordinates, and producing accurate, clearly labeled CAD deliverables.Under the guidance of senior project leads, you will support quality assurance of subcontractor survey work, analyze and adjust electronic survey data, and maintain precise documentation to ensure accurate geospatial records. This role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.While this is our ideal list, we will consider candidates who do not necessarily meet every qualification but demonstrate sufficient experience, capability, and talent.Skills:• Proficiency in CAD software for drafting and updating survey drawings.• Understanding of coordinate systems and spatial data management.• Experience with RFID active and passive technology and RFID tagging (preferred).• Experience with cabling, Wi-Fi, and general IT troubleshooting.• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.• Basic understanding of networking concepts.• Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to survey adjustments.• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to follow detailed instructions and documentation procedures.Key Responsibilities:Survey Supervision and Quality Assurance: Supervise subcontractor surveying processes and serve as the primary quality assurance authority on their work, ensuring accuracy, compliance with project standards, and adherence to established surveying best practices.LiDAR Survey Execution and Coordinate Transformation: Perform LiDAR surveys of installed hardware and infrastructure, accurately transforming collected data into Easting/Northing coordinates within the North Carolina State Plane Coordinate System. Update and produce CAD drawings with clearly labeled reader locations and verified spatial accuracy.Field Data Collection and Management: Collect, verify, and input field data into electronic job folders, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation of all survey activities.Survey Equipment Operation: Operate surveying and LiDAR equipment, including backpack/mobile systems, in both indoor and outdoor environments while maintaining equipment functionality and calibration standards.Coordinate Systems and Spatial Analysis: Apply working knowledge of Northing/Easting coordinate systems (State Plane, UTM, etc.) to analyze electronic survey data, perform mathematical adjustments, and validate positional accuracy.Mapping and Documentation: Prepare maps, sketches, plats, and metes & bounds descriptions to support engineering, operational, and documentation requirements.CAD Drafting and Data Processing: Assist with office-based tasks including CAD drafting and updates, data downloads, data management, and quality assurance to ensure accurate translation of field data into deliverable formats.Professional Development and Mentorship: Remain current on surveying practices, guidelines, and best management practices, and provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior field staff as needed.Qualifications:Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.Technical certifications or training in surveying, geomatics, GIS, CAD, networking, or related fields are desirable.Experience:2–5 years of experience in surveying, geospatial data collection, CAD drafting, IT system installation, or related technical roles.Hands-on experience operating survey equipment or LiDAR systems preferred.
