Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist

Duties
Process and verify all accounts payable transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance.
Manage accounts receivable activities by generating invoices, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts with professionalism and persistence.
Reconcile vendor statements and customer accounts regularly to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly through detailed analysis.
Prepare journal entries for accruals, adjustments, and other financial transactions related to payables and receivables.
Assist with month-end closing processes by preparing reports on outstanding balances, aging analyses, and account reconciliations.
Skills
Strong knowledge of accounting concepts including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, general ledger accounting, and journal entries.
Experience working with financial software such as QuickBooks desktop.
Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy (10 key typing skills) and attention to detail for account reconciliation tasks.
Understanding of governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting practices is a plus.
Ability to analyze financial data critically using analysis skills to identify trends or discrepancies.
Excellent organizational skills combined with effective communication abilities for collaborating across departments including human resources and finance teams.
