Backend Java Developer

Backend Java Developer (Contract, 12+ Months) — Hybrid in New Albany, OHWe have an immediate need for a Backend Java Developer to join a direct client engagement, on-site in New Albany, Ohio, for a 12+ month contract. We're looking for someone with 3–5 years of backend development experience and strong hands-on expertise in Java, Kafka, Spring WebFlux, and GraphQL, who's ready to design, build, and support scalable backend services for enterprise applications.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot, incorporating Spring Security best practicesDesign and implement GraphQL APIs for flexible, efficient data retrieval and manipulationApply reactive programming with Spring WebFlux to build non-blocking, resilient applicationsManage Kafka-based event-driven architecture, including topic configuration, event streaming, and Spring Boot integrationBuild custom Kafka producers and consumers for reliable message processingSupport Kafka implementations using Confluent Cloud where applicableImplement data management solutions using MyBatis, JDBC, and SQLDeploy and maintain applications on TomcatUse Maven for dependency management and Docker for containerizationSupport container orchestration and scaling with Docker and KubernetesFollow test-driven development (TDD) practicesBuild CI pipelines using GitLab CI, with deployment support via HelmRequired Qualifications3–5 years of backend development experience with Java, Kafka, Spring WebFlux, and GraphQLBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fieldStrong understanding of reactive programming and its application in Spring WebFluxProven experience designing and implementing GraphQL APIsExperience with Spring Boot 2.7+ and Spring Security 5.x preferredFamiliarity with OAuth and JWT a plusExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills; able to work independently and in a teamLocation: On-site — New Albany, OhioDuration: 12+ monthsType: Direct client contractInterested candidates, please reach out to Laura Mayo at lmayo@revelit.com.
