Technical Lead - AWS Platform, Implementation & QA
*About Nulliti*
Nulliti is a payments security company. We build tokenization and credential-binding infrastructure for card-not-present commerce - binding a cardholder’s passkey directly to the payment instrument, so a transaction ties to a specific credential rather than a session. The cryptography is patented and shipped, and we are building out production now.
*About the Role*
This role owns implementation and quality for our platform, end to end. A payment-provider or partner specification comes in; you determine what the platform has to do to satisfy it, write that up as user stories with acceptance criteria, direct our contracted development team to build it, test what comes back, accept or reject it, and release it. You also own partner and merchant implementation through go-live, and you maintain the technical evidence behind our PCI-DSS program.
You also own our AWS environment. That work is performed today by a contracted engineering team, and we are bringing it in-house - our platform infrastructure is core to what we are building and that knowledge belongs on our own team. You will take it over and run it.
*Responsibilities*
· Own partner and merchant implementation: integration requirements, onboarding checklists, credential and gateway setup, testing, and coordination through go-live.
· Read payment-provider and partner specifications and determine what the platform must do to satisfy them.
· Write user stories with defined scope and testable acceptance criteria, including negative and error-path behavior. Own and sequence the backlog.
· Act as the daily technical counterpart to the contracted development team: sequencing, unblocking, challenging estimates by decomposition, and accepting or rejecting delivered work.
· Run QA directly - test plans tied to acceptance criteria, regression coverage, negative testing, and the defect record.
· Build and maintain non-production test data using synthetic or scrubbed data.
· Own releases: readiness criteria, change records, a tested rollback path, and post-release verification.
· Maintain the technical evidence supporting our PCI-DSS program: control documentation, access reviews, and assessor requests.
· Own access control, secrets management, TLS certificates, DNS, monitoring, centralized logging, and alerting.
· Own the AWS environment: architecture, networking, and databases, defined in Terraform. Take this over from the contracted engineering team and operate it.
· Own CI/CD pipelines, deployments, environment buildout, and infrastructure change management.
· Maintain runbooks and partner integration documentation, and support technical conversations with merchants, partners, and prospective clients.
· Deliver a weekly written progress report to company officers.
*Required Qualifications*
· 3-5 years credit card acquiring industry experience.
· 5+ years in technical implementation, delivery management, or QA leadership for a software or payments platform.
· Hands-on experience onboarding partners, merchants, or enterprise customers through integration and go-live.
· Writing requirements and acceptance criteria that engineering teams built from.
· Hands-on QA: test planning, regression, negative testing, and defect management. You will personally test.
· Managing delivery by an outside vendor, agency, or offshore engineering team, including acceptance and rejection of delivered work.
· Working knowledge of PCI-DSS requirements and the evidence they call for.
· 5+ years operating production AWS infrastructure, with real depth in Terraform or equivalent infrastructure-as-code on live environments.
· Hands-on ownership of CI/CD, deployment automation, IAM and least-privilege access, VPC design, network segmentation, secrets management, and encryption.
· Experience taking over infrastructure built and operated by someone else, and getting it under your control.
· Ability to read a pull request and evaluate an engineering estimate.
· Clear written English and the ability to hold a technical conversation with a customer.
· Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
*Preferred Qualifications*
· Payments experience: gateway, tokenization, processor, or merchant-side integration.
· Direct participation in a PCI-DSS assessment, including producing evidence for a QSA.
· Experience standing up staging and production environments from a near-greenfield state.
· Experience as the only or most senior technical resource at a small company.
*Job Details*
· Job Type: Full-time
· Work Location: Remote within the United States
· Schedule: Monday to Friday, with overlap with U.S. business hours
