Dimensional Metrology Quality Engineer (NPI)

A day in the lifeYou arrive on the floor with a new machined component ready for launch. First stop: building and refining CMM programs in PC-DIMS and MCOSMOS. You choose the right fixturing and tooling, set up the part, verify stability, and map out a robust inspection strategy driven by drawings, CAD models, and specifications. You validate the system with MSA and gage R&R, then translate results into clear, auditable documentation—control plans, inspection plans, FAI, and PPAP tailored to customer requirements.Throughout the day, you collaborate closely with design engineers, machinists, and quality control teammates to verify that every dimension meets intent. You review inspection and test results against specs, ensure process control documentation aligns with requirements, objectives, and contracts, and keep your work area spotless and safe. When priorities shift, you pivot quickly—and you’re ready for other duties as assigned. What you'll ownDevelop and edit CMM programs using PC-DIMS and MCOSMOS for precision machined componentsInterpret engineering drawings, CAD models, standards, and specifications to define and optimize inspection strategiesSelect and apply appropriate fixturing, tooling, and setups to ensure repeatable, accurate measurementsReview and verify inspection/testing results for conformance with drawings and specificationsPerform MSA and gage R&R to validate measurement systemsCreate and maintain quality documentation: control plans, inspection plans, FAI, and PPAP per customer requirementsEnsure projects and process control documentation meet requirements, objectives, and/or contract obligationsPartner cross-functionally with engineers, machinists, and quality personnel to resolve issues and drive improvementMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area according to company safety guidelinesPerform other duties as assignedHow you'll succeedPrevious experience as a Quality Engineer (or similar role); engineering degree preferred3+ years of CMM programming experienceExpertise in GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection methodologiesWorking knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100Proven background in quality inspection and assurance within manufacturingFluent with statistical tools such as Minitab and SPC for data analysisThrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environmentCollaborative team player with a positive, excellence-driven mindsetSelf-directed; able to drive initiatives and achieve objectives with minimal supervisionTools & technologiesCoordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) (Hexagon)PC-DIMS and MCOSMOSProficiencies we valueQuality Inspection ExperienceQuality Control ExperienceQuality Control Data AnalysisPPAP Process ExperienceAS9100 ExperienceEligibilityMust be a U.S. citizen.
