Position Purpose:
This role sits at the intersection of accounting, finance, technology, and music distribution. You will join a mission‑driven finance team, responsible for helping design, build, and scale
the accounting and royalties’ infrastructure that supports a rapidly growing digital music distribution and fintech platform.
Rather than stepping into a static accounting function, you’ll help bring efficiency to accounting systems, integrate royalties and financial reporting, and ensure our systems can support complex deal structures, advances, revenue sharing, and multi‑party royalty flows across a global client base of 10,000+ artists, labels, and rights holders.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys ambiguity, questions the status quo, and thinks in terms of systems, automation, and scalable process design - not just debits and credits. You’ll collaborate closely with finance, royalties, product, new business, and underwriting teams to ensure financial accuracy while supporting innovation in how money moves through the music ecosystem.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do:
Serve as a core architect in building and scaling our accounting, royalties, and financial operations infrastructure
Own and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including:
Journal entries
Account reconciliations
Vendor and client level analysis
Issue identification and resolution
Account for complex music industry deal structures, including:
Distribution agreements
Revenue splits
Artist advances and recoupment
Multi‑party royalty arrangements
Partner with royalties and distribution teams to ensure accurate accounting for activity across 10,000+ clients
Translate high‑level deal terms and contracts into clear, auditable accounting treatment
Design, document, and continuously improve processes, controls, and workflows as the company scales
Evaluate data from multiple systems, reconcile inconsistencies, and validate outputs
Drive automation and tooling improvements across accounting and finance operations
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Finance, New Business, Product, Underwriting, and Operations
Support ad‑hoc analyses, budgeting, FP&A, special projects, and strategic initiatives as needed
Qualifications
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
4+ years of accounting or finance experience, including exposure to public‑company standards, controls, or reporting, combined with experience building or scaling processes in entrepreneurial, high‑growth organizations; familiarity with the music industry is strongly preferred.
Direct experience in music distribution and royalties, including managing accounting for large client catalogs (10,000+ clients preferred)
Comfortable diving into complex music contracts and deal structures, turning legal language into scalable accounting and royalty processes.
High technical fluency with accounting and finance systems such as:
Netsuite
Bill.com and Expensify
Royalties or distribution platforms (a plus)
Emerging financial platforms
Advanced Excel / spreadsheet skills (complex formulas, data analysis, reconciliations at scale)
Demonstrated experience re‑engineering processes and implementing automation
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to deconstruct complex problems into actionable components
Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially when explaining financial concepts to non‑finance partners
A hands‑on, builder mentality, comfortable operating in an evolving environment
Eligibility to work in the U.S.
Why This Role Is Different
You’ll help build the accounting function, not just maintain it
You’ll work at the crossroads of music, fintech, and technology
You’ll have real influence over systems, tools, and architecture
You’ll collaborate directly with leadership and cross‑functional teams
Your work will scale alongside thousands of creators and rights holders
Salary Range: $95,000-$100,204
