Job Title: Supplemental Instruction TeacherWage/Hour Status: Exempt/ContractedReports To: PrincipalPay Grade/Days: Teacher / 187Dept./School: Assigned CampusDate Revised: March 2026Primary Purpose:Provide intensive, targeted instruction by providing explicit and systematic, research-based teaching strategies to close learning gaps for students performing multiple years below grade level. The teacher will identify foundational skills to target, determine researched-based interventions that meet the targeted weaknesses, and complete ongoing progress monitoring to measure student's growth.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree in from an accredited universityValid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements and required training for subject and level assigned.Special Knowledge and Skills:Knowledge of academic needs of students in assigned areaKnowledge of the SMART goal setting process and implementationDemonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assignedExceptional knowledge of curriculum and instructionExceptional knowledge of using data to inform instructional learning planUnderstanding of how to create aligned assessments to measure student progress toward mastery of goalsAbility to scaffold instruction to meet the individual needs of studentsAbility to instruct students and manage their behaviorStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work with teams collaboratively toward achieving a common goalExperience:At least three (3) years of successful teaching is preferred.Major Duties and Responsibility:Work with individual students and student groups to provide targeted instruction using explicit and systematic, research-based instruction and show written evidence of preparation as required.Work with campus and district Instructional Specialists in developing and implementing effective instruction.Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.Develop student learning plans with SMART goals to identify foundational skills needed for successCreate assessments to monitor student progress toward mastery of learning goalsMaintains data-based documents of continuous monitoring of student's performance and progressProvides data to school teams (GLC and SAT) and participates in the decisions about student progress.Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of studentsCreate a work environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of each student.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for compensatory education teachers.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees.Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.If required, maintain a daily "Time and Effort" log to reflect actual daily activities and time spent on each activity; each week submit signed/dated daily "Time and Effort" logs for the prior week to the principal for signature.
