Internal Medicine Nocturnist OpportunitySt. Joseph's Health, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a full-time, Board Certified or Board Eligible Internal Medicine physician to join its growing Hospitalist team as a Nocturnist at Rome Memorial Hospital in Rome, New York — a well-established, community-centered facility offering an exceptional inpatient practice opportunity with strong subspecialty and intensivist support.Job responsibilities include:Providing comprehensive inpatient medical care to a manageable census of approximately 5–10 patients per night, ensuring each patient receives appropriate, timely, and high-quality medical management.Conducting thorough admissions from the emergency department and direct admissions from referring physicians, including detailed histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments.Documenting clinical encounters accurately and efficiently in the Paragon EMR system, ensuring compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.Monitoring and managing acute medical conditions for patients admitted to the hospitalist service, including those in the open ICU, with 24/7 intensivist consultant support for complex or critical cases.Collaborating closely with nursing staff, specialists, case managers, and ancillary teams to coordinate effective patient care plans and ensure safe, efficient patient flow.Arranging and coordinating discharge plans, ensuring all necessary follow-up appointments, medications, and home care needs are appropriately addressed before patient transition.Engaging in interdisciplinary rounds and handoff communications to ensure continuity of care between day and night teams.Participating in quality improvement initiatives, performance metrics, and safety programs aligned with St. Joseph's Health and Trinity Health's mission and standards of care.Maintaining compliance with hospital policies, medical staff bylaws, and regulatory requirements, including documentation timeliness and quality assurance protocols.Providing mentorship and support to residents, students, or advanced practice providers (if applicable), fostering a collaborative and educational environment.Utilizing sound clinical judgment and evidence-based guidelines in all aspects of patient care, demonstrating exceptional professionalism and communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.Participating in departmental meetings, ongoing training, and CME activities to support professional growth and organizational excellence.New graduates who are Board Eligible within 1 year are accepted.1 year of experience preferred, not required.Not accepting Locums candidates.Not accepting Visa Candidates.1099 candidates NOT accepted.Compensation and benefits include:Guaranteed base salary: $325,000 annually.Starting Bonus: $15,000.Productivity & quality bonuses available for additional earnings.Comprehensive health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision.Malpractice insurance with tail coverage provided.Generous PTO and 5 CME days with annual CME allowance.403(b) retirement plan with employer match.Short- and long-term disability insurance.Life insurance & Employee Assistance Program (EAP).Flexible Spending Accounts (health, dependent care) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).Career advancement opportunities within Trinity Health.Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligible employer.Requirements include:Truly Board Eligible (within 1 year of eligibility) or Board Certified in Internal Medicine – [REQUIRED]New York medical license or willingness to obtain – [REQUIRED]Clean malpractice and license history – [REQUIRED]DEA certification – [REQUIRED]Does provider require visa support? - [REQUIRED]1 year of hospitalist or nocturnist experience preferred- [REQUIRED]**Trinity Health does not reimburse for credentialing fees**.
