Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Shop Foreman
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Shop Foreman/Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in repairing and maintaining various types of heavy equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring that our machinery operates efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall productivity of our operations.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including but not limited to dump trucks, asphalt pavers, skid-steers, heavy equipment trailers, rollers, etc.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and technical manuals to identify necessary repairs.
- Conduct HVAC system repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Assemble and disassemble equipment components for repair or replacement.
- Execute tire service tasks, including mounting, balancing, and repairing tires on heavy machinery.
- Repair and maintain Caterpillar machinery, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Utilize welding techniques to repair metal components of heavy equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of repairs while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed on equipment.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in heavy equipment repair.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems is a plus.
- Experience working on Caterpillar and Mack is highly desirable.
- Ability to work on tractor-trailer systems and perform necessary repairs.
- Proficient in reading schematics and technical diagrams for troubleshooting purposes.
- Skilled in welding and fabrication techniques relevant to equipment repair.
- Experience in tire service for heavy machinery is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all repair tasks.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
