Its schools have received 96 U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Awards.Reporting to the Director of Evangelization and Faith Formation, the Children's Faith Formation Coordinator is responsible for planning and supporting the First Communion, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation for children/teens of the parish, as well as Vacation Bible School. Throughout the year, s/he will support catechists in the school, assist with children's religious events, and prepare weekly school weekday masses and Sunday family masses. S/he will act in accordance with Archdiocesan policies, procedures, and guidelines.ResponsibilitiesPlanning and executing First Communion, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation liturgies for children/teens. Includes all administration and coordination of the sacraments, planning and leading parent meetings, planning and leading 2nd and 8th Grade retreats, supporting catechists in the school, and related communication, sacramental records, scheduling and budgeting.Planning and executing Vacation Bible School. Includes recruiting and supporting volunteers to lead sessions; event promotion, registration, and budgeting; ordering materials, and leading/overseeing the weeklong session.Planning for weekly school weekday masses and Sunday family masses, including preparing the children who will be involved with the mass.Planning and leading religious events with the students, including reconciliation during Advent and Lent, Stations of the Cross, burning of the palms, May Crowning, etc. as advised by the pastor and principal.Reaching out to students' parents who are not Catholic, inviting them to consider OCIA or other parish offerings.RequirementsPracticing Catholic with a heart for Evangelization, committed to Gospel values and teachings of the Catholic Church.Degree or Certificate in Religious Studies, Theology, Pastoral Studies or other related field relevant to position or commensurate experience.Strong verbal and written communications.Excellent organizational and time management competencies, including managing priorities.Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment and has a "Service Mindset" when working with others.Demonstrated knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office, agile with technology.Available to work evenings and weekends, when necessary.The Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive total rewards package to include competitive compensation and benefit programs.
