Westchester as needed.Type Contract through June with potential to extend based on budget approvalsInterview Process Virtual first with hiring manager and teamPosition SummaryThe IT Rooms Operations Technician is responsible for day to day operations and project support across IDF and MDF rooms. This role focuses on low voltage cabling, space management, power, and cooling. The technician partners with IT remediation, facilities, engineering, security, and networking teams to keep wiring closets clean, documented, secure, and serviceable.Key ResponsibilitiesExecute daily operational tasks and assigned project work in IDF and MDF roomsPerform low voltage cabling work including cleanups, labeling, and remediation supportManage space utilization in frames, cabinets, and wall mountsAddress power and cooling with facilities and engineering partners, including UPS and power receptacle mappingSupport day two activities after LVC remediationsConduct port scrubs by coordinating with the network engineering group, then safely disconnect approved unused ports and remove dead cablingClean out rooms and remove non compliant items to maintain serviceable conditionsDecommission and coordinate removal of legacy equipment from IT roomsCreate and update rack elevations and room documentation for all IDF and MDF spacesTrack and complete tasks in ServiceNow, SharePoint, and project softwareCollaborate with security and site contacts to address closet access and security concernsPerform related duties as needed to maintain reliable closet operationsDay in the LifeStart your day at an assigned site such as Staten Island or Manhattan based on priorityAssess an IDF room using a standard checklist and document cabling condition, power availability, cooling, and inventorySubmit a port scrub request to the network team, review the report, and execute approved disconnectsRemove dead cabling, clean up frames, and eliminate clutter or non-compliant items from the roomUpdate rack elevations and room documentation, including switch, UPS, and receptacle detailsCoordinate with facilities or engineering when power or cooling deficiencies are identifiedMove to the next assigned IDF or MDF and repeat, or assist with LVC remediation tasks on active projectsRequired Skills and ExperienceHands on experience working inside IDF and MDF environmentsLow voltage cabling fundamentals including dressing, labeling, remediation, and standards adherenceWorking knowledge of power in wiring closets including UPS, micro pod concepts, and common NEMA receptacle types such as L5-20 and L14-30Understanding of space, power, and cooling considerations for IT roomsAbility to read and update rack elevations and maintain accurate documentationFamiliarity with coordinating port scrubs and executing approved disconnectsComfortable collaborating with facilities, engineering, networking, and security teamsProficiency using ServiceNow, SharePoint, and basic project tracking toolsStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ownership of assigned sitesNice to HaveWorking knowledge of access and distribution switches at a high level. No switch configuration requiredExperience in healthcare environments or other sensitive production environments that require strict coordination and change controlPrior participation in closet remediation projects and standards rolloutsEducationAssociate degree or bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent hands-on experienceWork Model and TravelOnsite role across Staten Island and Manhattan, with occasional Westchester coverageRoutine travel between sites based on operational needs and response prioritiesAbility to use personal transportation or public transit as appropriate for the day's routeReporting and Team StructureIndividual contributor working closely with the IT room remediation team and a project managerDirection provided by the hiring manager.
