This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, promotes safe and efficient airport operations, manages tenant and user relations, and oversees capital improvement projects and revenue-generating activities.Examples of DutiesDirect day-to-day operations of the airport, including airfield, terminal, hangars, and grounds.Ensure compliance with FAA, TSA, KDHE, and other applicable regulations.Maintain airport safety, security, and emergency response procedures.Prepare and administer the airport budget; monitor revenues and expenditures.Manage leases, contracts, and agreements with tenants, concessionaires, and service providers.Seek and administer grants and funding for capital improvement projects.Oversee inspection, repair, and maintenance of runways, taxiways, lighting, signage and facilities.Plan, coordinate, and manage airport capital projects in collaboration with engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.Serve as liaison between the airport, city leadership, FAA, state agencies, and community stakeholders.Promote airport use through marketing, public relations, and community outreach initiatives.Respond to and resolve concerns from airport users, tenants, and the general public.Supervise airport staff, contractors, and seasonal employees.Provide training, performance evaluations, and ensure compliance with city HR policies.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of FAA regulations, airport operations, and aviation safety standards.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage budgets, contracts, and capital projects.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and airport management software.Typical QualificationsBachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field; minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in airport management or aviation operations.Supplemental InformationPhysical Demands:Work is performed in both office and outdoor environments, with exposure to noise, weather conditions, and aviation-related hazards.Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing in and around airport facilities, hangars, and grounds.Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.May be required to operate vehicles, heavy equipment, and airport machinery; respond to after-hours emergencies; and work in inclement weather.
