Facilities Manager

Lead facilities operations across our Oregon campus.At Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), we create partnerships - connecting people, dogs, and communities - to transform the lives of individuals with visual impairments. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Facilities Manager to lead all aspects of facilities operations for our Oregon properties. Reporting to the CFO, this outward-facing role oversees maintenance, repairs, fleet operations, security systems, and capital projects while ensuring safety, compliance, and canine welfare. You’ll collaborate closely with campus leadership and the California facilities team to align best practices across locations and support future growth and expansion.What you’ll do:Direct all maintenance, repair, and preventative/predictive maintenance activities for Oregon facilities, infrastructure, equipment, fleet, and grounds, ensuring safety, compliance, and canine welfare while aligning best practices with the California campusLead Oregon facilities staff through hiring, training, performance management, goal-setting, and professional development, while providing leadership support during after-hours emergenciesManage contractors, vendors, and service contracts by monitoring quality, rebidding major agreements, maintaining records, and ensuring work meets organizational standardsPartner with leadership on long-term infrastructure planning, lead or support RFPs, and manage multi-year, multi-million-dollar capital projects and campus expansion initiatives using a universal design (UD) approachDevelop and manage the annual Oregon facilities budget, monitor expenses across buildings, equipment, tools, supplies, fleet, and contracts, and perform cost estimating and comparative analysesOversee work orders through the eMaint software system; manage campus security and safety coordination; maintain regulatory compliance and inspection records; communicate weekly facilities updates to staff; and perform advanced electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry work as neededWhat you’ll love:Making a direct impact on a mission that supports independence, safety, and inclusionLeading complex, meaningful work that blends strategy, hands-on problem solving, and collaborationPartnering with dedicated teams who care deeply about people, dogs, and communitySupporting campus growth and expansion in a role with long-term vision and influenceThe qualifications you’ll need:Five or more years of experience managing facilities or maintenance operations and supervising staff; undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience requiredMinimum three years of experience managing multi-year, multi-million-dollar capital projectsStrong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, architectural, and space planning principles, including the ability to communicate technical information effectivelyExperience managing a fleet of vehicles and overseeing preventative maintenance programsProficiency in MS Office; experience with eMaint or similar maintenance systems, HMI/HVAC, and AutoCAD preferredExcellent organizational, project management, communication, customer service, problem-resolution, and team-building skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrentlyValid driver’s license with insurable driving record, and the physical ability to lift up to 65 lbs. and perform job-related physical tasksGuide Dogs for the BlindAt Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), we believe that everyone deserves to move through the world safely and confidently – to live the life they want to live.
