Materials Control Manager
Our client seeks a Materials Control Manager who shepherds internal material control and drives production scheduling within the manufacturing facility. This person will optimize inventory control and material flow, while ensuring production schedules align with capacity and material availability. Will lead the Warehouse teams.Key Responsibilities:Develop the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on firm demand, WIP status, and plant capacityTranslate MPS into finite, executable production schedules for the shop floorSequence work orders to optimize flow, changeovers, and resource utilizationMonitor and drive schedule adherence, adjusting in real time based on material availability, downtime, or labor constraintsOwn inventory accuracy (=98%) through cycle counting and disciplined transaction controlInvestigate and resolve inventory discrepancies with root cause and corrective actionsManage excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory within the plantEnsure material availability aligned to the production schedule at point-of-use (POU)Design and manage internal replenishment systems (kanban, kitting, supermarkets, milk runs)Coordinate material staging and movement to support schedule execution without delaysLead warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, and line-side deliveryOptimize layout, space utilization, and material movement pathsSupport scheduling integrity through accurate BOMs, routings, and inventory parametersDrive discipline in work order management, backflushing, and scanning systemsPartner with production, quality, and engineering to resolve schedule and material-related constraintsDrive improvements in schedule adherence, inventory reduction, and material flow efficiencyReduce line downtime due to material and scheduling issuesImplement lean tools such as pull systems, visual scheduling boards, and standard workImprove dock-to-line and internal replenishment lead timesSkills and Experience:Prefer Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field3+ years in materials management, production scheduling, or internal logistics within manufacturingExperience with ERP/MRP systems and shop floor schedulingStrong background in inventory control and lean material flowDeep understanding of MPS, finite scheduling, and shop floor executionStrong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, and internal material flow systemsAbility to balance schedule priorities with material and capacity constraintsData-driven decision making with strong problem-solving skillsEffective leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentExperience with metric-driven successes in relevant areas (Schedule adherence, Inventory Accuracy, Material Availability at POU, Warehouse Productivity & Throughout etc.)
