ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Listed below are the essential tasks performed to achieve the purpose of this job. D5%Be knowledgeable of, promote and demonstrate high standards of safety.D5%Pick up and deliver students on regularly scheduled routes, scheduled field and activity trips, in conformity with laws and regulations.D5%Meet pre-trip inspection requirements and maintain equipment in clean and safe operating condition.D5%Follow established procedures for reporting all noted defects in equipment. D5%Fuel and clean transportation vehicles. D10%Exhibit satisfactory driving skills in the operation of a school bus. D50%Perform administrative responsibilities including but not limited to: development of seating charts, documenting student conduct, maintaining records, documenting maintenance related issues, working hours, logs, accident reports, etc.D5%Participate in scheduled in-service training and attend relevant continuing education workshops and seminars as offered. A5%Perform other tasks as assigned by the Transportation Manager or Director of Finance and Operations. M5%TOTAL=100% EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE High School diploma or equivalent Minimum of 21 years of age An established good driving record as determined by the employing agency Possess a valid Colorado Drivers license Meet all requirements of the State of Colorado "Rules for the Operation of School Transportation Vehicles" (1CCR-301-26.) 7. Such additions to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will work primarily in and on a school bus carrying varying numbers of diverse student and staff populations to school sites and other locations. Some emergency conditions or circumstances may arise ranging from student medical or behavior problems to road and weather conditions that may become hazardous. Such events require vigilance and critical decision-making on the part of the bus driver. TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OR CERTIFICATIONS: Requires a valid Colorado driver's license LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months PHYSICAL DEMANDS and OTHER REQUIREMENTS: To be hired: a. There must be pre-employment screening at District expense by designated providers. b. A fingerprint background check at the employee's expense must be passed. The employee must have a First Aid Certificate within 90 days of initial employment and kept current thereafter. The employee shall be subject to controlled substance and alcohol testing pursuant to the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration Rule, 49 CFR 382.
