Posting DetailsPosition InformationJob TitleHead Softball CoachNature of WorkDuties include, but are not limited to management and development of all aspects of a collegiate softball program: coaching, recruiting, scouting, scheduling, budget and scholarship management, supervision of assistant/student coaches, academic monitoring, development of team policies and procedures, development and implementation of off-season conditioning, knowledge of and adherence to college, conference, and NAIA rules and regulations, as well as marketing and fund-raising for the program.Examples of Work Performed1. Recruiting and scouting and work with Admissions staff in student athlete recruiting efforts2. Scheduling of practice times and facilities in conjunction with Athletic Director to develop the team's greatest potential3. Adherence to department budget and scholarship management4. Supervision of assistant and student coaches and all phases of team in the program5. Academic monitoring6. Develop and implement team policies and procedures7. Off-season conditioning8. Communication and enforcement of College, conference and NAIA rules and regulations to team as well as adherence to rules/regulations in use of state-owned vehicles9. Monitor eligibility program, and complete requisite eligibility paperwork10. Fundraising for program11. Ensure student athletes have complete eligibility forms and physical forms; ensure proof of insurance, parent consent forms and medical history forms for student athletes are current12. Make arrangements and ensure insurance requirements are in place for team trips13. Other duties as assignedSecondary Duties:1. Committee assignments within the athletic department2. Responsible for care of equipment and facilities being utilized3. Provide reports and information as requested to Athletic Director and Campus administration4. Formulate objectives for upcoming season5. Evaluate current/past season performanceIn addition to other requirements and conditions, the Head Softball Coach agrees:• To faithfully and conscientiously perform the duties of Head Coach and to maintain the high moral and ethical standards commonly expected as a Head Coach at the College;• To devote full-time attention and energy to head coaching duties as required herein and to the promotion of the Program;• To avoid any business or professional activities or pursuits that may conflict with the performance of Coach's Program duties under this Contract;• To perform such other duties as shall from time-to-time be assigned to Coach by the Athletic Director or College administration for the benefit of the College and its respective missions and programs, including, but not limited to, appearances on radio programming produced by the radio rights holder, and sponsorship/development support and appearances on behalf of the College and the Program;• To treat academic progress and achievement of student athletes as a matter of the highest importance. Coach agrees to adhere to the College's standards and policies for the academic performance of its student athletes in the recruitment, supervision and coaching of players. Coach agrees to follow conscientiously any directives from the Athletic Director or other administrators of the College concerning such matters;• To treat the physical, emotional and social well-being of student-athletes as a matter of import and to maintain a safe environment for student-athletes to discuss and resolve harassment or discrimination concerns;• To perform duties in strict compliance with (1) state and federal laws and regulations, (2) the constitution, bylaws, rules and regulations of the NAIA (3) rules and regulations of the intercollegiate athletic conference in which the College is a member (the "Conference"), (4) applicable rules and policies of the College, and (5) Board Policies; and,• Not to engage in fundraising activities or have direct dealings with any athletic booster or booster organizations of the College, except as may be expressly authorized in writing by the President.Required QualificationsRequired:• Bachelors degree required;• Must possess an ability to work in an environment where the education, welfare, and graduation of student-athletes receive primary emphasis;• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and proven managerial and fiscal skills required.• Must have demonstrated, excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as ability to work effectively with the campus community and outside constituencies;• An ability to work in an environment where the education, welfare, and graduation of student-athletes receive primary emphasis;• Must have valid driver's license and follow all rules and regulations of the College, NAIA, and HEART.Preferred QualificationsPreferred:• Masters degree preferred preferably in physical education or related field.• Previous head coaching experience at the college and/or high school level preferred.• Previous recruitment experience helpful.Physical DemandsnoneLicense and Certification RequirementsnoneOther RequirementsOffers depend upon successful background check (criminal and credit).Salary InformationSalary Low to mid-$50's DOQ.FTE1.0FLSAExemptUnion StatusNon-UnionNumber of Vacancies1Posting Detail InformationPosting NumberPS1654PDesired Start DateOpen DateClose DateOpen Until FilledYesSpecial Instructions to ApplicantsGeneral InformationPSC's "Campus of a Thousand Oaks," an arboretum campus, is nestled in historic southeast Nebraska.
