Advancement-Development Director

Principal Responsibilities:Major Duties & ResponsibilitiesDesigns, implements, and manages all fundraising activities including annual giving, endowment, and capital campaigns, special projects, and other solicitationsManages all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relationsMaintains contact with and develops grant proposals for foundations and corporationsSolicits alumni and staff for our established planned-giving programWorks with the Development Committee of the Board of Directors and Executive Director to develop strategies to initiate and achieve fundraising goalsDevelops fundraising training for the Board and other leadership volunteersAssumes responsibility for all Development reports to the Board and other agencies; attends all Board meetingsCreates office systems to support all Development projects and operationsOversees the management of donor databases and gift record-keeping and processingManages pledge reminders and acknowledgment programsCoordinates development research activitiesCreates and implements communication and promotional plan for future capital campaignsMinimum Qualifications:Skills & Knowledge/General CommentsMinimum 5 years of experience in development with demonstrated success meeting annual fundraising goalsExperience cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major-figure gifts (defined as $5,000 and above)Experience with planning and implementing capital campaignsExtensive knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, including major gifts, corporate sponsorship, special events, foundation and government grants, annual fund, and capital campaignsAdept in fostering relationships with all donors, including high-net-worth donors and staff at all levelsStrong interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to influence others to actSuccessful track-record leading teams and developing strategyAble to motivate and work effectively and diplomatically across diverse teams within an organizationExtensive knowledge of Bloomerang/CRM and database managementExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to inspire trust and confidence with a wide range of stakeholders within and outside of the organizatiPassion for camp and the outdoors is a plusThis position is remote and may or may not require the successful candidate to spend the summer at campSalary:$75,000 - $85,000Agency Information:Surprise Lake Camp is one of the oldest Jewish Children's Camps in the United States. We have a very strong alumni base and many of our campers are the children and grandchildren of former campers.
