Reports To: Chief Operating OfficerClassification: ExemptLocation : In-person – Berkeley and Richmond, CASummaryGNI Group is a diversified life sciences company with operating divisions including Berkeley Advanced Biomaterials (BAB) and Berkeley Biologics (BB), focused on the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of innovative biomaterials and biologics supporting surgical, orthopedic, and regenerative medicine applications.The Director, Program Management will serve as the enterprise leader of portfolio governance, prioritization, and analytics across GNI Biomaterials (BAB + BB), while directly leading the BB Tissue platform.This role is responsible for institutionalizing disciplined portfolio decision-making, stage-gate progression, executive reporting, and cross-functional alignment, while driving lifecycle strategy and margin expansion for the Tissue portfolio. This is a highly strategic and execution-oriented leadership role in a regulated biomaterials and tissue manufacturing environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead operational execution of the Portfolio & Program Committee (PPC).Develop and maintain standardized decision memo processes (cover-page + supporting dossier).Define and enforce decision rights, escalation criteria, and milestone discipline.Ensure milestone decisions are data-driven and cross-functionally aligned.Align quarterly and annual portfolio prioritization with enterprise strategy.Institutionalize structured communication and documentation of executive decisions.On-track / At-risk / Delayed indicatorsNext milestone visibilityFinancial performance vs planKey risks and mitigation statusDevelop base, upside, and downside revenue scenarios.Model NPV, margin, COGS, and operating expense implications of portfolio decisions.Conduct resource allocation modeling and recommend tradeoffs to executive leadership.Integrate annual planning and long-range planning with portfolio priorities.Serve as the end-to-end program leader for tissue platform.Develop and maintain a formal Global Program Strategy document.Lead cross-functional program team (Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, Commercial, Supply Chain).Define and manage stage-gate progression for tissue products.Drive SKU prioritization and rationalization.Oversee international expansion strategy and regulatory pathway evaluation.Lead margin expansion initiatives across tissue operations.Maintain and manage a formal risk register with mitigation plans.Stage-Gate & Lifecycle ManagementDefine milestone criteria for product progression (feasibility, development authorization, launch approval, international filing).Ensure readiness before escalation to PPC.Evaluate lifecycle management opportunities including:Geographic expansionCompetitive response strategies.Cross-Functional AlignmentEnsure strategic decisions consider operational implications.Prevent siloed or uncoordinated program execution.Partner closely with:Supply & Operations PlanningFinanceMedical / Clinical AffairsCommercial leadershipQualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Business, Finance, or related field required.MBA, MS, or other advanced degree strongly preferred.10+ years of progressive experience in medical device, biomaterials, tissue, or regulated manufacturing program leadership.Demonstrated experience in enterprise portfolio governance and executive-level decision support.Experience leading cross-functional teams in complex, regulated environments.Experience presenting to executive leadership and facilitating milestone decision forums.Strong understanding of lifecycle management, regulatory pathway considerations, and margin drivers in manufacturing businesses.Proven ability to implement structured stage-gate processes and governance discipline..Strategic thinker with operational depthStrong financial and analytical rigorGovernance discipline and accountabilityExecutive presenceStructured decision-making mindsetAbility to manage ambiguity and complexity.Travel RequirementsLess than 10% travel for leadership offsites or industry events.This is an in-person position splitting time between the Berkeley and Richmond locations as needed.CompensationPay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. The expected salary range for this position is $150,000-225,000.A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
